Aidan.

Hmm ~ as a Freemason and member of the Royal Arch chapter I don't really think I need Wikipedia to educate me about Freemasonry thank you .

Bill ~ Master Mason ( not masturbation in case your filthy mind works over time ) and past lodge master.

Bill, can you tell me something? I always thought that the Freemasons were a secret organisation. Do they always go around boasting about this? I am really curious.

I've never heard Freemasons boasting about anything to do with freemasonry ~~ my statement to aida was to advise him that I didn't need his wikipedia generated advice about Freemasons as I am one.

Freemasonry is not a secret organisation ~~ there's lots of info on the net including the obligations and ceremonies attached to the degrees up to becoming a master mason so it's hardly secret .

The general line of thinking is that Freemasonry is an organisation that has a few secrets including those of recognition of a fellow mason and is not a secret organization

Anybody can visit the Grand Lodge in Great Queen street in London and guided tours are arranged daily ~ so not very secret really.

To be honest it's more like a gentleman's club ~ throw a couple of ancient ceremonies in and a very good meal afterwards a few drinks with good friends and there you have it ~~ nothing sinister at all ~~ all good fun and seems to keep the older generation very mentally active too.

A hell of a lot is done by Freemasons for charity which is often forgotten by critics of Freemasonry.

No problem boomerang ~~ ask away ~ it's the way we find out about things we don't know ~ lot's of info on the net ~~ some good some bad.

At a wild guess I would say that hospital in Melbourne was probably built with Freemasons money.

I'll be coming to Melbourne within the next 12 months so I'll find out more when I visit .
