Do you know that one GR !!
The Cypriot "slang " tsiattista " , my all time greats , Oh those wonderful weddings that lasted for 3 days , and the girls all looking pretty in their best dresses , us boys having a quiet smoke away from prying eyes !!
Seriously though my all time great Greek song , one that I first heard while helping out at my uncles seaside restaurant in Famagusta , right on the beach , Alasia , VRAHO VRAHO TON KAIMO MOU , always reminds me of Alasia , had such lovely memories there , perhaps the reason I love Kourion beach so much a lot of similarities , and here is VP telling us to forget this part of Cyprus , a part that has so many memories for thousands of Cypriots ! I was born in Paphos but after the earthquake of 1953 followed by a few years in Limassol I ended up in Agios Loukas , Famagusta , hence Alasia Beach Restaurant !
It has its good points , wine has , makes you sentimental ! Cheers !

But I came across a video of Candan Ercetin singing part of her Chapkin song in Greek. Her Greek sounds better than Sertab Ereners...well she sounds like she can pronounce the words at least....can she? GCs can you understand?

PS: Check out Ajda Pekkan! She's the best looking 61 year old I've ever seen...I rate her surgeon!

But for the "fossil," I too enjoyed this video, T_C. She did a great job with the Greek lyrics. She has an attractive singing voice too. I also enjoyed the video you posted prior to this one containing traditional Turkish Cypriot dance, which, as we've said in other threads, really isn't a whole lot different than traditional Greek Cypriot dance.

The song that always makes me think of Cyprus is At the River by Groove Armada. It's not even about Cyprus, but the sound and lyric could have been written especially for it. Have a listen and you'll see what I mean.

And here is the Greek version of that song iceman!! Lovely song and I can see why it reminds you Cyprus.

Most of the songs are related with Cyprus or people from Cyprus.

I can see this thread becoming very special one or a disaster!

The Greek version is so much better than the English version.

I enjoy both Filitsa mou but because I enjoy the Greek version too I posted the video clip.
