This one reminds me of the summer just gone....I'm sure this will make the TCs gag since it was played to death like EVERYWHERE, but still, it's one of those songs that you just can't but sing along to, and I really like it for some reason (apart from the Star Trek thing in the beginning )

It's a Turkish song so most probably wont enjoy it but the videos kind of alright I suppose...

Didnt they have these types of Duets at village weddings? Our Turkish neighbours were famous for these. What surprised me as a kid was they were sung in Greek at Turkish weddings to. Who dares say we are not Cypriot. Graet stuff. I hope these songs never die out. I see where RAP comes from, definitely.

Wow! I was just looking for some more songs to post...I can't seem to remember any of the old songs names. :(

But I came across a video of Candan Ercetin singing part of her Chapkin song in Greek. Her Greek sounds better than Sertab Ereners...well she sounds like she can pronounce the words at least....can she? GCs can you understand?

PS: Check out Ajda Pekkan! She's the best looking 61 year old I've ever seen...I rate her surgeon!

I have seen video clips of her in the past...she is very good. By the way Anna Vissi is better than her so applaud her surgeon and his team!

Yes her Greek are very good...she pronounce quite well most of the words but not all of them!

The tune that brings Cyprus to mind most, is Tyllirkotissa, in either language.

The one that reminds me of Cyprus is "to gilekaki pou foris" for the images of those three day long weddings.

Then there is "Tha pame sti zoungla me ton Tarzan" because it was an often played hit in the summer of 1973, my only vacation in Cyprus as a grown up.

And as the overall song that should be our national anthem is Stelios Kazantzidis singing "Dyo portes exei i zoi".

Sorry I dont have links to the tunes, maybe Kafenes can help on this one.
