Webbo

I believe the prices on the website are UK prices - unfortunately, the franchise company do not provide the overseas part of the franchise with their own website so everything links back to the UK but, if you go to http://www.barkingmad.uk.com/branches_details.asp I think it brings up the Cyprus site with a contact form etc.

If not - click on the website link I gave in my first posting then choose from the options at the top of the page -
Get In Touch/International Branches and the Cyprus option will be there for you to click on the FIND button

The dog goes to stay at the foster families house - the foster family does not come to your house.

Hope all that helps!

But, best I can advise is - if anyone is interested they are better to contact Helen & Dave who will explain all to them.

Thanks for that. I am not getting at them, honest, just going by info given and I think that they are expensive and I reiterate what I said earlier to McFranks, to shop around for the best solution for their dog.

Barking Mad have in the past looked after dogs in the owners home - fact. Assume that as they 'grew' they could take on the foster families you mention. Great idea.

I am glad not to be in this predicament having such good friends who love animals!

BTW it is Bubbles not Webbo

I operate Barking Mad here in Cyprus and have operated since Oct 06 and feel I need to clarify some of the incorrect comments on this thread

Dogs are cared for in fully vetted family homes. We DO NOT and have NEVER cared for dogs in the owners home

We meet all dogs in their own home to get to know them and enable a suitable match with the families we have available

The families match the dogs routine while they are on their holidays so they are walked and fed at the same time as when at home and they have all their usual home comforts including sleeping in the bedroom if that is what they are used to

Kennels can never offer this level of service therefore you cannot expect to pay the same. We currently charge 10cyp a day. The website clearly states that the prices are UK only. We are currently the only International branch of the Company

Our service is not designed to suit everyone but it is certainly popular with those dog owners who want an alternative to traditional services of kennels, family and friends

We have been booked for Christmas since July with only limited availability cropping up due to new families coming on board

Please feel free to look at the website www.barkingmad.uk.com and if there any queries feel free to give us a ring. We would rather this than incorrect information circulating on very public forums such as these

we have been unsuccesssfull finding a temporary home for our dog and as the time is getting closer we are becoming a little agitated.

approx 2 weeks ago we contacted barking mad for a home for our dog frankie during the christmas period in which they said they had a few places available, knowing she is still a puppy rottweiler they came to our home to register her, which we did not do in the end as they had taken one look at her and told us there was no room for such a dog we are coming so very close to the departure date and had all our hopes on barking mad taking our doggy for the two weeks we will be away, as they could not satisfy our needs after giving them all the information about our dog via a telephone call they said it was a misunderstanding and that they had thought it was a cross colly in which we don't understand the difference it would have made, we are now becoming very desperate in finding a home for our dog and would appreciate any help we could get.

yours sincerly mcfranks

we are willing to pay somebody that is willing to take good care of our dog during this christmas period.

i am in the USA, so i can not be of any help as far as sitting for your puppy (he is cute!). may i just say that i am a very successful pet sitter in NY, and my recommendations would be to try to keep the dog in his own surroundings. not only would this make him more comfortable, it is also good to have a dog in your house while you are away for security reasons. of course, i understand there is no crime whatsoever in CY. i am not sure how things are in CY, but you might be able to find a suitable person to come into your home 3 or 4 times a day to feed/walk the dog by contacting vets in your area. alot of times the employees do that on the side.
if you board the dog, or put the dog in another place where he will be around other pets, you have to be careful that the other pets are healthy. you always risk spreading disease.
as for what the fee should be, keep in mind your pete is part of your family. the pet sitter you hire should come with recommendations. i am insured and bonded, and a member of Pet Sitters International. It would be nice if you could find someone with a similar (professional) background. you are also paying for peace of mind, and the pet sitter can take care of other things, such as watering plants and bringing in the mail, taking out the garbage.
good luck.

OK, I did not want to go down this road but you have forced my hand. I disagree with your comments about you not going to the owners homes. I spoke to you personally last year and that is exactly what you quoted   The prices you quoted were also a bit extreme also apart from looking after the dog you / your chosen staff were going to be using my amenities at my cost :!: For these reasons I opted not to use your services. Please do not try to say I am wrong as I asked you several times during the phone call to clarify yourself  and I tookl notes:!:

we are looking for someone to look after her while we are in the uk for two weeks from mid december through to the beginning of january.
please contact us if you would like to look after our lovely little angel and earn yourselves a little extra cash over the christmas period.

Hope you got your gorgeous dog sorted and had a great holdiay!!
