isnt dreambox a games console? if so then no, sling player is like a device that you fit to your internet and cable box in england, and then using a password and virtual remote control you pick up all the channels in cyprus via the internet, or do what i did and buy a tv with a computer lead connection on the back and watch all the england channels over there
and then all you need is to download the software package on both computers in both countries, when my mate vas showed me i was amazed and just had to have it! i can also see what my cctv cameras are looking at in england when i am in cyprus! i think it`s some kind of witchcraft, but my mate is a bit of a whizzkid with all these electronic gadgets

its not a dreambox its a slingplayer and i dont know if it is available in cyprus, but i would say not, i got mine in england, it basically sends cable/sat/ tv signals down the internet from england to cyprus via the internet, its brilliant

Dinos, a dreambox is a satellite recieve that you plug into your ADSL router/modem which opens up channels, like all of Nova Greece, Nova Cyprus, Nile Sat etc. Get a big enough dish and you'll also get Sky etc. So a Slingshot does sound very similar to it!

oh, ok that sounds like a satellite reciever, no its not the same, the sling player takes all your channels from england and sends them via internet to your home in cyprus

How much are these to buy? Any monthly subscription? What UK channes do you get on it?

the box itself i think cost about £100, in england i`ve got a deal with virgin which gives me all the channels, all sky moviechannels, front row, all the sports, satanta,mutv,liverpool,celtic, rangers,eurosports all of them, plus you get all the bbc digital and hd,all the discovery and uk, basically every english satelite and cable channel plus a load of yank and french and asian, porn, the lot, plus telephone inc. 400 minutes a month to anywhere in the world and 8gb broadband, all for only £41 per month, then in cyprus i just pay for cyta internet, i think it works out to something like £25 per month, plus phone i think and then thats it, easy.

Larnaca. Near the Anorthosis football stadium.
I own a flat so a sattelite dish big enough to get Sky is not an option since it blocks the solar heater panels.

But this sling player sounds great. So Dinos you have the whole thing set up and cytanet here and it never freezes or anything? Is the internet connection good enough to handle it?

it`s ok you know, i dont think much of cy internet for anything else but it seems to serve the slingplayer well enough
