Satellite photos can clearly see the painted flag. Several websites on the internet can show this.

..........and a waste of money. Better spent on the needy.

Good man, Deniz . . . what a pathetic claim to fame.

. . . . But what if it catches the eye of some passing alien ?

Cyprus will have yet another foreign invader!!!!

Dont get me wrong Phoenix. I love my flag but fluttering in the sky and not on the soil. Not for incitement and we need not be reminded as to what we are. We know.

Pray tell . . . what are you? Turks / Cypriots / other? :?

Pray tell me are you asking in the 'singular' or plural?

You know, that sounds okay with me! :D

However, Turkish should not be an "Official" language in the RoC in my opinion. Only Greek, then we can move on. Surely it makes sense . . . U.K. only has ONE official language and yet there are many people speaking a second language.

Crafty arent you. Turkish language is a lovely language. I know you hate everything Turkish - maybe rightly so. In your stilletos i would be the same. I see the Turkish Language as enriching the Cypriot peoples linguistic abilities and richness. Yes, I know you disagree. I love the Greek language as well, unfortunately some fascists decided to end the Greek studies in the secondary schools, so I feel deficient. The more languages the better. Now Phoenix behave.

NB: without Turkish you would not have had Lokoumi.

Deniz . . you know I have no objections to Turkish whatsoever . . . ALL I said was that in my opinion if we only had ONE OFFICIAL language we would minimise our problems. Undoubtedly and indisputably the one official language would be Greek . . .

According to a report on this story in the Turkish Cypriot Vatan newspaper:

http://www.vatangazetesi.com/haberdetay ... berID=5734

the project is expected to cost "80 billion". I can only assume that this is in old Turkish lira, which equates to 80 million new Turkish lira. That is still a cool 26 million Cyprus pounds. Can this figure be right?
The Association states that it is going to start a campaign to collect this money.

No it's wrong. When they first got the idea (about 2 years ago??) they were still waiting for donations and as I have a very good memory I remember the cost was about 12 thousand CYP. So it seems they added some some, 000s to their numbers...

Now how on earth would it be possible for any group of people who form a union to use "public" property to erect their flags is beyond my comprehension. But I guess in a pseudo state built on free stolen GC land everything is possible.

Yes, millions of pounds does seem an awful lot for two flags.

Talking about a group of people forming a union and using public land, whilst trying to get some data about this new flag project I stumbled across the website of an organisation known as the "TRNC Pentadaktylos Mountain Flag Illumination Association":

http://www.kktcbayrak.org/

Health warning: A lot of people here might find the images on this site hard to stomach!
