Hi to everyone, just thought you may like to know that XL have announced new scheduled flights to Cyprus from Luton to both Paphos and Larnaca airports. They will be 3 times a week to Paphos (tues, thurs, and sat.) and 5 times a week to Larnaca (mon, tues, thur, fri, sat) these flights are due to begin from May 23 2008. Hopefully this will increase competition and lower the prices!!!!

It would be nice if the airlines acknowledged that not everyone lives in London

it would also be nice if they actually stuck to their flight schedules for a change.. from what i hear this past season was a nightmare.. our mates were screwed over by them on more than one occasion causing them to miss more than one full day of their holiday..

Well it's somewhere a bit south of Luton but don't worry if you don't fancy it because as from today you can actually carry on to Brussels or Paris on nearly the same train as you get from Luton station.......

I made a telephone booking with XL Airways and had to deal with a shrill incomprehensible clerk who got my initial wrong. When the confirmation came through and I queried it I was charged £20 to put it right. They claimed that they listened to a tape of the conversation and I gave my initial incorrectly.

Guess who won't be flying XL Airways ever again?

Cheap flights etc...

Postby cymart » Thu Nov 15, 2007 1:10 pm

As a general rule you get what you pay for, although there are always exceptions.I have flown on both scheduled and cheap charter flights and to be honest the differences between them are not overwhelming, unless you are fussy about meals,leg-room etc.Aircraft nowadays tend to be better quality and safety standards are rigid, despite what people think!Flying with an airbus on Cyprus Airways for example,is hardly any different from the same plane like ThomsonFly,except for the little extras mentioned above. What amazes me is when people expect to find flights for next to nothing from here, just because they paid a few quid for an empty charter seat from the U.K.on the way over! There are many expensive things about Cyprus as a holiday destination but flights are not always one of them although things are difficult this winter for the reasons I mentioned the other day-there are just not many flights and seats available from here to the U.K.and consequently those we can find for people tend to be expensive.I suppose its human nature that once we find something cheap we expect it to always be the same- or even less!

At the end of the day, airlines should look after their customers. XL had me over a barrel as I had already paid for half of my family to fly to Larnaca. I wasn't trying to change the booking to have someone take my place but merely correct what was obviously a genuine mistake on the initial booking.

They charged me £20 for that. Okay not a lot, but I feel personally aggrieved at their inflexible attitude and I have now booked the other half of my family group out on BA. We travel to and from Cyprus a lot and XL have now lost potentially £1000s in our decision not to use them again over the coming years.

We have certainly lost all confidence in their telephone booking procedure and to cap it all, the supervisor who stung me for the £20 hoped we would all have a wonderful time!

Not after dealing with you lot we won't and I'll keep running XL down for what they did on Anglo Cypriot websites ad infinitum.
Rip off artist airline company manned by jobsworths! Don't use them, they're crap!

:x All well and good if you are from the area I suppose. Will watch with interest to see if any come from Northern England or even Scotland (sure these are always forgotten about by airlines!)
