"Kings of peace, pawns of war" is the title of a very interesting book by Harriet Martin, in which, among else, describes what went on at Bonkerstock in March 2004. Martin is a top journalist. She worked for Financial Times, the Economist, BBC, Independent and the UN as a political analyst and a speach writer. I think this book is a must for all people interested in the Cyprob. She makes a historical review of the Cyprus problem and records the facts after 1999 when De Soto became involved in the issue.

De Soto, the man with the impeccable sense of dress who said that there are NO refugees in Cyprus! I heard him with my own ears.

THere are also accounts of journalists who were present at Borgentstok who could understand Greek and knew what was going on. I am curious to see if the two accounts match. I will get the book and tell you.

P.S. Every time a leader takes recourse to phobias (xenophobia especially) his country receives a huge blow. Good example in 1922 when Gounaris beat Eleftherios Venizelos to death in the elections because he played the dirty anglofrench card (today its the dirty angloamericans) and ousted him from Greece. Soon however, the Greeks realised (over the ruins of Smirni) that populists who prey on phobias are no good scums and Gounaris was summarily tried and executed. If you are looking for present day parallels I can help you out. Papadopoulos (and his supporters) is Gounaris and of course all he is doing is telling us that he is protecting us from the foreigners. He is playing the Gounaris card hoping for a landslide in the February elections.

There is no "xenophobia". Here we are talking about two countries who maintain troops and occupy parts of our island. They also happen to be the same ones who had enslaved us for centuries.

The British and the Turks have collaborated and used/use the TC minority of Cyprus as an excuse to deny to the Cypriot people our self-determination so they can divide our island among themselves. Somebody must be really stupid not to be able to see this.
