WE ARE STAYING AT THE QUEENS BAY BEACH HOTEL NEAR PAPHOS FOR 5 WEEKS STARTING BEGINNING JANUARY 2008.
ANY INFO APPRECIATED ON THE ACCOMMADATION, 3 WEEK CAR HIRE AND THE USUAL WEATHER THAT TIME OF YEAR. ALSO HOW DIFFICULT IS IT TO TRAVEL TO THE NORTH OF THE ISLAND.

No offence but we’re all hoping it will be raining solidly during that time…

Check that your hire car company will allow you to take your car into the occupied areas – getting across the boarder is very simple although they have foot ‘n mouth precautions at the moment which are causing long queues.

It's variable. I've had friends who have come back to the U.K. with tans at that time of the year.

But as for your proposed trip to the north. Remember it is occupied territory and unless you are a hardened type of person, which I am sure you are not, any knowledge of the degree of suffering the 200,000 refugees feel living in their own country, and yet being denied access to their rightful homes may well leave you without a good holiday mood.

You will effectively be visiting a Turkish army base, although one sprawled in beautiful surroundings.

The Turks are so desperate for your visit though, that they will say and do anything to get you over there . . . but it would just be "Salesman's Talk".

Enjoy your ethically correct holiday in the free part of Cyprus. :D

In my opinion, 5 weeks in January in Cyprus at the Queens Bay hotel will bore you out of your minds. Two weeks is more then enough.

5 weeks seems like a very long time to book in a country that you have not been to before (at that time of year)

Answer to craigbeck. The holiday is a 35 day cheapy with 1st Choice holidays. £660 sterling= flight , hotel, 1/2 board and transport to & from Birmingham airport. Even if it is raining in cyprus it has got to be better than January in UK. For the last 6 years we have gone to either Algarve or Spain for January & every trip has been good but we fancied a change. These holidays are very popular with oldies like us , plenty of spare time. Lock up shop, turn down the heating & away we go.
Cheers
