My husband and I are currently looking for a property and have been doing so for some time now we know Cyprus as only holiday makers ourselves we have been many times but that doesnt count for much as we were either sleeping or drinking, eating or sunbathing we would like to ask in general if you were looking for a place to live that wasn't to touristy and not to may ex-pats (no-offence intended) that was somewhere central or heading towards Paphos with traditional homes that are not in the mountains where would you suggest we have a nosey. We are coming out at end of month

Larnaca and it's surrounding villages could be a good start ~ certainly central and close to the main airport too.

It's the sort of place that's not really far from where ever you want to go.

Is that meant to be a bonus?

I would have said Pissouri which is half way between Limassol and Paphos. There are many ex-pats there now but the main village is mainly Cypriot. Really lovely place. I wouldn't mind living there but can't as it's too far to the schools for us.

Certainly is a bonus as long as your not under the flight path

As you were talking of Pissouri ~ I've always liked a small village just a few miles inland from Pissouri village ~although large in area this place only has about 40 houses ~ no house numbers or street names ~ the lady  :? at the cafe calls you if you have a letter ~ there are no shops or bank etc in this place as the nearest shop is in Pissouri village .

I think it's a idyllic little village but you can't buy a house or plot there ~ which is why I suppose it's still so small and undeveloped .

Hi Alison,
which kind of property are you looking for? We intend to sell our 2-Bedroom-Apartment in Polis. Nice and quiet location.

Hi,
I have just joined, I know someone who is selling their villa, it is just outside Paphos. I have never been there as I live in France now but I have seen photos and it is lovely in a very quiet position with sea views.

My friend is in the U.K. at the moment but he will be back around the 19th of November. If you would like I could put you in touch or get him to email you . :)

thanks for the help we viewed a couple of properties on Pissouri but were led to believe they were older than they were but loved the place. We are looking for an old traditional property i myself am not so keen on the newer properties i hope to work freelance or get a job not ready for retirement yet. We missed out on an established B&B as we would like to do something like that. So really we are looking for something with old charm possibly with an annex/flat, garden as we have dogs. We are visiting again at the end of month and have 3 possibles to look at. We don't have kids so schools are not a problem.
Keep talking and share in your wisdom!
