A Film to reunite Cyprus!

Postby Ersoy Osman » Mon Nov 05, 2007 4:46 pm

OK, İ put my hands up İ don't think this film will reunite Cyprus but İ think it will be an important first step on a long road! İ have started writing a film about relationships in Cyprus and İ intend to start filming as soon as the writing is finished. The film will be in English, Turkish and Greek and will need Turkish and Greek actors and actresses. İ also need a Greek English translator. İs there a film school on the Greek side? Because İ also need an assıstant dırector and a camera crew. Is there also a drama school on the Greek side? Because like İ said I need Greek actors and actresses.

I also need the same level of support on the Turkish side! Anyone who takes part in the film won't be paid and so I expect will be doing for the love of film and country and also for recognition- İ intend to enter the film in İnternational festivals. İf u would lkie to be inolved please let me know either via the forum or by email [email protected]

Ersoy Osman, what a great pity you are not seeking any Cypriot actors and actresses, I am sure there are plenty of them available and it would be courteous to invite their input, after all, it IS their country you are proposing to make a film about, what say you ?.

Osman, if you start with "Greek side" and "Turkish side" then I don't see your film going in the right direction. The north part of our country is just like every other part, the only difference is that it is illegaly occupied by the Turkish army which ethnically cleansed almost all Cypriots, replaced them with Turkish settlers, and then they declared this part of our country as supposedly being "Turkish".

My friend , it was early 1981. I was seating with about 10 friends-all Gcs, in old seaside of Limassol, having a moring coffee. Sudently a very beautiful lady, speaking worst English than me, presented to us as a jurnalist of the French Newspaper of FIGARO.

She asked a simple question: What will be your feelings/reactions in case the status of Cyprus society come back in 1963.

The nine persons of ten, including me, trying to prove our Greek civilization responded that we will try to live in peace with Tcs this time and will try to make a mix society to survive together. The one however, the Great George, replied: " These 9 people are telling you lies because they feel that they protect their country from the foreign press. If we had again the opurtunity we would kill all the Turks within one night. This what you have to write down and you will write the true."

Of course today is not 1981, of course very small number of Gcs fanatics are feeling this way, however my friend, respective what you are trying to do, I am telling you that you are driving the car to the wrong direction.

Turks are a great nation , Greeks are also a great nation, but the humanity has not yet reached the point these two nations to live together.

We are so same in our deep mind and this make us to go far away of each other like the magnetic reaction.!!

I think you should have asked if the film is to be factual or fictional......The latter will satisfy you but I am sure that Osman would like to make a factual one where the realities of Cyprus is shown and not your twisted version....

The reality is that you keep our land under occupation. So if he wants to refer to the "sides" that should be 1) the free side, and 2) the side under illegal Turkish occupation. Thats the facts.
