Partition is not the answer

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

2. the majority ethnicity in Scotland is Celtic: in England, it is Anglo-Saxon/Norman

If you had read through my earlier posts, you will know I had already addressed the problems of language and culture by taking the best parts of other peaceful polyethnic countries as an example. It is not so long ago that it was not a major problem in this country. I remember Cypriots (NOT Turks and Greeks) of both major cultures working together, going to the same coffee shop, playing backgammon together and so on. Why cannot this happen again, if both lots are given a fair deal (not the case in 1960)? Of course it can! In fact, it HAS to; the island is too small for anything else. I don't say it will be easy, but that is my firm conviction.

No my friend , this was mot the case before 60. You have wrong, false information from RI.K. old stories guided by politicians.Yes Tcs were participating in some celebrations with Gcs they, some times, had a coffee in same coffee shop but always they were Turks, second class people, pure people, "docks"(i am writting the real situation that time - this does not mean that i agree with the charactiristics Gcs were giving to Tcs) .Only in few cases we had real /equal cooperation between the two Ethnicities.

Young boy , passing from a Tcs village with my bicicle i had always a bad feeling, not becuase i understood the reason but because i learned to feel this way. Do not tell me that Tcs and Gcs were living together in love becuase i do not believe you since i know myselve..Maybe some old people of the two communities created some friendship but the general picture was always a very bad and dangerous atmosphere.

They could of course communicate whilist they were working in the fields but after this, they were Turks and Greeks/ I consider that never hapen in Cyprus the two communities to feel like to come of one nation/ They always were separate.

As for Scotish/English i said about the same. Allow me to know very well this area since i am a frequent traveller there. At any case they much more related betwen each other that Greeks and Turks in Cyprus.

If Cyprus was left alone, then maybe no problems would be created among the different communities, but even if some occurred we would have solved them by simply ethnically cleansing them. We would have done this back in 63 but the UN and threats from Turkey held us back. We tried again in 74 but again Turkey intervened.

We have however not given up on this dream. Its only a matter of time when Turkey will have to withdraw its troops, and as soon as it does, BANG. We will be victorious. Long live Hellenism, long live Papadapopopololououuoous.

Oh come off it, devil. The Scots and the English are more related than they like to admit . . . because of politics.

Their religion is virtually the same . . . . Bible, God, Jesus, Cross, Resurrection, yada, yada ,yada !

As for the Norman input into the English, well the Scots had a Breton input. Both French. Plus some sprinklings of Viking in both. BINGO. Same!

Your joke is very good but the same disaster will come if we insist to find a unification solution with one part to be Ankara. Tcs are playing no role in a solution of Cyprus problem.

The two parties are: The winner of the war , Turkish army, and the looser of the war , the Gcs.

Any unification solution to be signed is to be on winner's favor/

We are a 18per cent minority in Cyprus. We came here after an invasion some hundrd years ago.The majority, Greeks, decided to free their country from British but then we decided to ask our motherland to take a piece of the cake. The international law was in favor of the majority but our motherland was so important to some powerful countries and therefore, giving a sheet about the int law, asked the majority to change Etnicity and be part of its great Nation.

Some people of the majority considered this very unfair, stupid people, they they voted no to the respective referendum.

Our motherland became very angry now and ,with our help, will take control of all the island

You and I have had differences, but this one caps the lot. Just to put you in the picture, I am Scottish. For me, England is as foreign as France (I'm bilingual French-English, so language is not a barrier in that comparison). In fact, I prefer France! In all the years of Scottish history I was subjected to in school, I never heard any mention of a Breton "input" into Scotland. Perhaps you would care to enlighten me?

If you think that pure Presbyterianism is the same as Anglicism, you might as well say that the Orthodox Church here is the same as the Catholics. There is a world of difference (including the fact that the Anglicans forbid me of partaking of Holy Communion). Have a look at the 1646 Westminster Confession of Faith, which is the basic Presbyterian polity and you will see that it is very different, following the tenets of Jean Calvin and his disciple John Knox, whereas Anglicism was founded by Henry VIII and embodies Catholicism except where it suited Henry to be different, mainly in terms of marriage and divorce.

FYI, the Normans WERE of Viking origin, not French. And they invaded the Lowlands but were unable to invade the Highlands, so yes, there is some Norman blood in Scotland, but not enough to drown out the predominant Celtic culture, which was later reinforced from Ireland.

I can assure you that if you go to Scotland and say they are the same as the English, you are likely to get your throat slit and your body thrown into the Clyde. The Scottish identity is strong.

Imagine Scoltand to be populated with Turks and England with Greeks- I am telling everybody stop trying to unify Cyprus again - it will be the bigger mistake .
