Politics divides people. Food unites them

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Go stuff a vegetable
Rice and meat fillings dress up everything from tomatoes to squash, grape leaves to cabbage leaves
Stuffed vegetables have gourmet status in Middle East and Mediterranean

Some years back, I was on a bus listening to two gentlemen, a Greek and a Turk, arguing about Cyprus. To break the impasse, I asked: "Don't you both eat the same food, especially stuffed grape leaves?" Both grinned and forgot the argument as we discussed the merits of stuffed vegetables.

Politics divides people. Food unites them.

It's true, actually. We need tons of foods for reunification. It would be excellent to organize massive "food for reunification" parties for Cypriots with tons of dolmas, souvlas, doners, pilavs, magarina bullis, badadez bullez etc. :D

O.K now we are talking, you see if we arrange a big cypriot eat in at the border and everyone that comes brings one of their own favourite home made cypriot foods, then we will have us all mixing and sampling each others fanatastic foods(which are all almost the same anyway)

Now would that not demonstrate that we are all brothers and have nothing to fear of each other etc.

My mouth is watering at the prospect :P :D

Sure, majority of Cypriots would attend and contribute for such a "food for reunification" organization but I have doubts about ultra-nationalist of both sides. Perhaps they too, might attend with poisons in their pockets, in order to undermine the rapproachment of two communities.

Hahaha!
There's an article in Politis newspaper today, about yesterday's bicommunal party meeting, where there was a huge row between Talat and DIKO's Kleanthous, and then between Kleanthous and Papapetrou, and then others got involved (Serdar, some other GC guy I've never heard of, and Green Party's Perdikis), but then, a while later, they were all sitting at the dinner table as if nothing had happened.
Typical! :)
