Churches

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby phoenix » Sat Nov 03, 2007 1:33 am

The point about mosques and TC buildings in the South not being subjected to destruction was dealt with in Get Real!'s thread:

"The Turkish Cypriot Shame File..."

(sorry don't know to post the thread link)

TC, I have seen VPs list and it's absolute BS, I made an effort to visit half of them and take pictures, they are all standing very well indeed. That was when I lost complete respect of VPs posts.

Kafenes,

I had suspected the posts when VP put them up, because I had been through the Limasson and Larnaca Turkish Cypriot areas and saw the state they were in, no Mosques were touched. Plus the style of theo posts was so reminiscent of official TRNC propaganda. The fact remains that with official tolerance Greek Cypriot patrimony in the north is systematically dismantled and sold overseas. Profit just happens to coincide with a disgusting political plan.

Nikitas, I not just talking about the mosques in the towns but even in some very remote villages where there are no houses standing any more, the mosques are in very good condition and being looked after regularly.
Recently even some churches in the south have been vandalised and things gone missing by some organised thieves but to turn a church into a barn or a cafe or similar is really a crime.

The only way muslims will not molest churches in conquered land is if you willingly surrender to muslim forces, agree to pay the jiyza and accept the contract of the dhimmi. But even then muslims have converted such Churches to mosques or destroyed them.

The stupid leftist prevalences of Greek society have prevented us from using this against Turkey globally by getting Christian dominations on Turkey's case for its contant abuses.

Nikephore,

being pinko leftist is a fashionable status these days in Greek society. Dont hold your breath for any kind of reaction. I have even heard on Greek TV journalists accuse Afxentiou and Matsis of ethnic cleansing against Turkish Cypriots and no one reacted! We truly are a western nation!

I now alot of Church groups around the world would get on Turkey's case if the Greek Orthodox Church and its bishops brought it up at the World Council of Churches and other fora. At first Turkey took alot of heat for its destruction of churches, invasion of Cyprus from the World Council of Churches. The Russian Orthodox Church is getting more powerful in Russia a country that sends annually 2 million tourists a year to Turkey.
