What's really wrong with Cyprus today (3)

Postby devil » Thu Nov 01, 2007 1:23 pm

The fact that many members of this forum, mentioning no names in particular, distort each thread into a totally irrelevant soapbox, often name-calling and belittling other members. The latter have to reply, of course, and the thread ends up as a hotch-potch of unpleasant quotes which have nothing to do with the original subject.

This lack of mental discipline is reflected throughout the society of the island. He who shouts loudest (and knows least) always thinks he wins the argument, without realising that he appears a fool to others. And the same applies even to the highest echelons of government, making them unpopular with their interlocutors on an international scale and thus losing credibility. You can open a newspaper, any day, to see how this bickering is just plain stupid.

Laying myself open to criticism that I may be distorting this thread by bothering to post . . . but I have just one thing to say.

Devil . . . you seem awfully intent on promoting negativity towards Cyprus.

Why the persistence with this line of enquiry?

Did you not achieve your desired quota of "wrongs" with Cyprus? Ever thought maybe there just ain't too many?

It is a sad reflection on a small mind that cannot think of a new topic or some more worthwhile subject.

Far be it from me to silence any one's wish to debate ANY subject . . . but a sequel of a sequel . . . come on!

But once again, sticking to topic:
The only thing I can think of that is wrong with Cyprus is that there are 43,000 Turkish troops splitting the island and preventing the 200,000 refugees from returning to their rightful homes.

Correct but there is a worst wrong thing. Some Gcs looking for co-operation / partnership with these invasion forces in order to control together all area of the Republic.

Thank you for your kind words phoenix and Sotos, I have returned to Cyprus for a short stay only, I will be going to Europe in the very near future (possibly 11th November) for a period of two or three weeks.

Thereafter I will be back in Cyprus for some time (I hope), I am pleased to note that the forum members are all seemingly in good form and do hope to be able to join in some of the discussions.

Currently they appear to be a little too intense to benefit from any input I may wish to contribute, I would really like to be part of a topic which would produce a result.

What I can say (regarding the Middle Eastern fiasco) is, don't take too seriously the nonsense you are reading in the daily news, the mayhem is as it was and will remain so for some time.

In my humble opinion.
