We had a great traditionally 'British' kids party last night - apple ducking, flour tower, Nelsons bones.....

Our kids and the Cypriot kids had a great time (and the adults had a few glasses) with no trick or treat. Kids love gore, dressing up and scary stuff so I would suggest everyone lightens up and sees it for what it is - a bit of fun, not an excuse to insult other cultures.

Personally I like any excuse for a get together! :D

Well said Niki! Finally a great post in this thread. I enjoy giving sweets and stuff to the kids and see the customs...they do enjoy it if you look scared when you open the door! Did not attend to any party since I am still ill...but next year if I am around i will! :D

Children love dressing up and scaring the life out of everyone, it is great fun for them and great fun for those among us who remember our own childhood days.

We should all indulge them at every opportunity, their young lives are (and should be) filled with imaginative events, they will become adults soon enough, God Bless them all.

I remember my Grandson dressing up as a vampire and knocking on the door with my daughter "hiding" behind the porch, I did the necessary screaming act until he said "Nan its only me"!! (he was 4) Great days, I miss them all so much!!!!

halloween is a great holiday, one of my favorites! and it's not just about candy. it's fun to dress up and be someone else for a day. and yes, even the adults get into it, but not as much. i walked dogs all day dressed as a pirate. it's not a satanic thing at all,and everyone gets involved. nothing wrong with a little horror now and then.

Oops... just saw this thread from a year ago: http://www.cyprus-forum.com/viewtopic.p ... =halloween

After the invasion of MacDonalds, Haloween is surely to follow soon.

I was Morticia Adams, with a long black wig, white face and long black dress, nobody recognised me!

The long wig did get in the way tho when I was face painting - which I love. We had vampires, wicked fairies, skeletons, zombies, ghosts. It all washed off in the apple ducking.
