Universal Bank

Can anybody else confirm, through their own experience, that Universal Bank is a completely and utter shower of a financial institution?

In that, they repeatedly make mistakes in bank transfers,
their ATM network is constantly going down (multiple times a day),
their online banking service is constantly going down (multiple times a day),
they make multiple errors just in opening the accounts you need,
you cannot use another bank's ATM machine unless you have transferred funds into a special "switch" account (outside of your regular current account!),
all this and, trust me, much much more.

And when raise any of these issues with them all you get is the typical shrug of the shoulders!

Unbelievable!

Seriously, are there any other Universal Bank customers here who get a really good service from them?

I mean, I switched to Universal because I was sick of being treated as a "foreigner" by my previous Cypriot bank and thought that a smaller bank like Universal would be better able to offer a personalised service. Boy was I wrong!

I have an account with the BOC but they can be a bit off hand and impersonal at times .

I opened an account with the Co-op bank last year and have found them to be very good ~ although the smaller branches don't seem to be totally geared up for foreigners and sometimes you can't / don't get exactly what you want but on the whole it seems to be a good bank.

I looked at what many of the Cypriot banks had to offer some years ago and also asked friends for their opinion ~~ sadly out most of the people I spoke to the universal bank came out with the most complaints and was totally out of touch with customers needs plus their customer service was terrible ~~ as you said a shrug of the shoulders is the most you would expect in answer to many problems which is not really the way to keep or for that matter attract new customers.
