Crooked Cyprus

I think the island will benefit hugely from being part of Europe. Hopefully it will start to hit the massive level of corruption that you find everywhere.

I had to visit a doctor in Paphos yesterday I just needed a prescription for some anti biotics (bad reaction to a bite). He wouldn't give me one unless I gave him £30 (which he stuffed into his pocket).

I was in so much pain to argue otherwise I would have made more of a fuss but why is everyone on the make with no fear of being challenged by the authorities!!!!

Because everything is private here and he can charge what he wants.

Why not pay the extortionate NI in the UK with little or no return. Waiting lists 2 years if you haven't died from it, the doctors now need an appointment (your supposed to know when you get sick now) and prescriptions are still around the 6 quid mark.

Mate, I think you got off lightly and as for the EU, cobblers, wasn't it neil Kinnocks commision that was fired for be so corrupt, ? Oh not forgeting the hundreds of thousands the commisioners would have been paid to resettle into civvie life.

Thats where the corruption is. Cyprus is no different than anywhere else.

If you want to see some real juicy one in the UK just go to the planning meetings and see the little fella get turned down whilst the likes of barrat, bovis, persimon et al get planning to build hundreds of homes in open country side. bet they commitee members make a few bucks huh?

I had it to here with the likes of you winge, winge bloody winge, cyprus this cyprus that, no one forced you to come, the choice is yours.

have a nice day

Gosh that's cheap!

Here in the UK my GP charges £95 just for a consultancy, let alone a prescription. The dentist requires a blank cheque and I can't begin to tell you how much the vet has taken off us for vaccines for the dog.

Can't wait to come to Cyprus . . . sounds fair! :D

where did you get your medical degree? there are all types of antibiotics, each with a set of side effects. and each used for treatment of different symptoms.

When you first visit any country you always seem to encounter bad people or companies. They are the ones which show up first in any nation. When doing business anywhere you will also notice the same principles. You might know one nation well but your unknowledgeable in another nation. This however passes with time and experience. You will soon learn the places to go and where to get the best prices and services from. My advise is to ask knowledgeable people, there are many unknowledgeable people who are willing to mislead you. So just be careful were you are getting your advise from, if somebody is wrong about one thing, it is also likely they will be wrong about many (even if it is an over-exaggeration on what he/she believes to be the truth).

The reason behind people not fearing the authorities comes from the authorities not effectively exercises their powers. However, the general mentality in terms of dealing with companies is "If your not happy, go elsewhere", which works for me. Complaining kind of does not work, and if you were to complain in the wrong manner they would probably ignore you or tell you to go elsewhere.

Hope this has cleared everything out.
