It's started, the UK and TK trade Agreement!

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Hi all - (Pyrpolizer and Get Real in particular),

Thank you for the many responses of my posting. I have read all of your responses with particular interest and must say that you all have a valid point, espeically Pyrpolizer and Get Real.

Get Real, I admire your confidence and optimism and can see that you are evidently a well educated and highly pragmatic individual (by your postings), but, I am unfortunately not as strong minded as you seem to be. I don't trust the new Turkish Cypriot/Turkey order as they appear to have unfortunately become more "Turkish" inclined as opposed to "Turkish-Cypriot". I do share with you however the belief that we should never give up our struggle for a free federation, but also share the view of others whom are sceptical about the "Time Wasting" factor. If we were so strong in politics, how on earth has the so-called "TRNC" stayed alive (operation), unopposed, since 1983. How come so many international companies are now operating there, and why hasn't the EU declared a state of emergency regarding the island of Cyprus rather than choosing to run after the impratcical UN sponsored process. Their just simply appears to be too many contradictions against us all reaching a federal formula. And, justing by the July 8th committment, it appears that we are once again digging for another Annan Style "Confederal" formula - "No Thank-You".

As for your comments Pyrpolizer, particularly those regarding the NON-ISOLATION of the so-called "TRNC" were Spot On. I also don't believe northern Cyprus is isolated for one second. As you've rightly said, the so-called TRNC consists of hundreds of companies and institutions that are affiliated to many international based organisations. They have perhaps the most reputable, according to the international University rankings, educational institutes in Cyprus, while many foreign students study at the university in "their" famagusta district. How on earth could that have been possible. In addition, their roads/motoways were financed by international governments and companies, Voda phone completely recognises "Northern Cyprus" as a seperate entity to Turkey and so does BMW, Mitsubishi, HSBC, NatWEST (believe it or not!) Honda and, despite the Hilton and Sheraton hotels, many of the other leading hotels of the world.

There's literally an endless amount of evidence to prove that the so-called "TRNC" is not isolated. Even flights from London are direct on both Monday and Thursday nights.

Get Real, it would be an honour if you could further explain your optimism regarding the non-recognition of the so-called "TRNC", why we should not take the Cyprus situation in our own Greek Cypriot hands and, how long do you think we can/ or should wait for a "Favourable" (completely) unified federal settlement of the Cyprus problem.

As for my overall view - I am getting cold feet. I thoroughly enjoy reading all your comments, even the bad ones, but I would much prefer it if they were more constructive, perhaps with some practical emphasis as to what we should/could do to either promote a federal formula or force a "Realistic" two-state scenario, at least. Come on! If the Israelis and Palastinians can start the ball rolling for a two-state formula, why can't we! (Not implying that we are far more intelligent peoples - of course!). Even Serbia and Montenegro have brought some kind of closure - eventhough it was not to the exact taste of Serbia.

Thank you.

Andros Costas.

Good example Serbia/Montenegro they voted to divide and it all worked out, we should do the same to bring this matter finally to a close.

Andros

Are you TC?

Not that you would admit it if you were . . . but just letting you know doubts are creeping in. :?

Montenegro and Serbia were already separate entities bound together in a federation. Going their separate ways did not involve property theft, loss of patrimony and cultural roots.

I have my reservations about Andros being a TC too, Phoenix. Even though he is against the majority of GC's ideas, at least he comes here with ideas that are different to change up the hate cycle. Its actually better than reading the rehearsed propaganda for a change. My take on it is that he's a lawer of some sort.

I knew an Andros Costas from the Church Greek School in Wood Green.

Is that you, re? You sat behind me in Kyria Sofia's class!
