cancer centre?

Postby pkb1 » Tue Oct 23, 2007 6:24 pm

Hi folks
looking for a bit of info, i have an extremely rare type of cancer, hopefully in remission at the moment [ but having a new lump biopsied next week!]..we put off our move 5 yrs ago just because no one knew how to treat me!...now it transpires that chemo nor radiotherapy have any effect so its a case of loping off or chopping out the lumps if and when they apear!......soooooooo rather than keep postponing the inevatable move we made the decission to move out next year.
What i need to know is,..........any oncology centres near Paphos or Limassol??
i would think my oncologist here would want contact with them so i need to know where to look before we get there
any ideas??
cheers

Dr Andreas Chimonides is an Oncological surgeon based in Limassol. He may be able to point you in the right direction. 25 761414. Not sure about this but you may have to pay for the treatment here if moving over. I would really do your homework before heading over here. Especially with such an issue.

What ever you decide I am sure that I speak for everyone and wish you a speedy and FULL recovery. Beat the b@st@rd! Good luck xxx

You may wish to contact http://www.cancercare.org.cy/EN/index.html

The main Oncology Centre is in Nicosia and was donated by the Bank of Cyprus. It is reputed to be one of the best in the world, albeit beset by staffing problems at a care level. You can find out about it at http://www.bococ.org.cy/english-pdf/english.pdf. I knew two persons treated there. One died of a heart attack unrelated to her cancer. The other had a stomach cancer which was treated in Russia as a digestive upset. By the time she was diagnosed here at the Centre, it was too late and metastasis was advanced. They both praised the Centre as being fantastic.

I was Dxed with cancer 12 years ago, when living in Switzerland. Happily, still in remission!
