It is the opposite: You decided to be Turks, and therefore thats how we see you.

How quickly you forget. Three years ago 65% of us voted to be Cypriots. 75% of GCs voted to deny us. Only the Eu has forced GCs to open the door a little.

I don't rember such vote. What I remember was a partition plan that would grand you our land, and of course you voted yes and we voted no for it.
Here is what your own Mehmet Ali Birand said about that plan:
Quote:
Before the vote on the Annan plan, I personally believed the Turkish Cypriots were faced with a historic opportunity and did everything I could to ensure that the plan was a success. I believed that, with the plan, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (KKTC) would be able to stand on its own two feet. The KKTC would enter the European Union with Greek Cyprus and consequently, the Cyprus issue would no longer be an obstacle to Turkey's EU aspirations. I am still of the same opinion.
Mehmet Ali Birand
So it was the "partition+ plan" for you:
Partition + EU + no Cyprus obstacle for the Turkish accession in EU.

You either do not know, or are completely ignorant of the spirit of those times. Any type of BBF will end up with some people not getting their land back. TCs understood this, GCs still don't understand it. The TC community as a whole were enthusiastic about ending the problem and getting on with our lives. Other matters were secondary, especially for younger, more idealistic people. Now they have experienced GCs I think that any referendum on the same basis as the A Plan would only just get a majority saying yes, possibly even a majority saying no.
As for Mehmet Ali Birand, it's obvious from his statement that he wanted the BBF of the A plan, not partition. Other things would flow from it.
