During these years Greek Cypriots have suffered 10s of thousands (several 1000s of which in 1974) of casualties and 100s of thousands of people being ethnically cleansed in 1974.

Comparatively the TCs have lost, at max, 800 people.

Now lets compare living conditions and rights:

The population of Cyprus under the Ottomans during their 3 century rule instead of doubling as it would be the norm it had actually decreased. Those that survived the massacres and the bad living conditions, where forced to live as third category people. The Cypriots had to pay twice as much taxes compared to the Muslims that were imported from Asia (now called TCs), and their testimony in the courts was not even accepted. No need to say that we were allowed absolutely no say for the destiny of our island.

More recently with the Turkish invasion of 1974, the Turks didn't even allow us to exist in 1/3rd of our country, and the few 100s of GCs that remained enclaved had absolutely no say, and their human rights grossly violated. Soon after the Turks declared the occupied as a "Turkish Republic", totally ignoring the fact that that part of Cyprus is the homeland of 5+ times more Greek Cypriots than TCs.

In comparison, the TCs started the whole conflict in the 60s because GCs proposed to remove some racist discriminations and undemocratic provisions that were forced on us by the British in order to reward the TC minority for fighting on their side during our anti-colonial straggle. E.g. for the TC minority of 18% to have the 30% of government positions, or the TC minority to have veto powers.

So basically our "crime" was that we wanted to make Cyprus a normal democratic country like all the rest. TCs would still be equal citizens, with their full human rights and boosted representation in the government! Compare that with how they treated us when they ruled Cyprus, or how they treat now the GCs who have remained enclaved in the occupied areas.

Now the TCs having nothing else to say they exaggerate as much as they can their own, drop in the ocean (comparatively) suffering, in an effort to excuse yet more crimes against us. This is why they want to always talk about the past, but only for the past that suits them, not before, not after, and even during that decade they keep talking about they conveniently ignore their own responsibilities and their own crimes against us.

Following the defeat of the Venetians in 1571, Lala Mustafa Pasha, the Turkish Commander of the land forces in Cyprus, chose, before departing for Istanbul, 12,000 foot soldiers to remain on the island for the formation of the defensive garrison of Famagusta, Nicosia and Kyrenia. In addition, he distributed 4,000 cavalry men among the localities of Les Salines (Larnaca), Limassol, Paphos, Kyrenia, and elsewhere. The military forces were complemented by an additional 20,000 decommissioned soldiers and 2,000 cavalry remaining as colonists. I thought we had cured him of numbers but it seems to have got worse....What we need to do is ween him off slowly like they do with Heroin addicts....I'll give him some numbers and who ever talks to him next can take one off and so on until we cure him...I know I know...Once an addict always an addict but we can try!!!!!!

Zan, sorry mate but you are wasting your time. This man is beyond help. Anybody who can sit and type all the years between 1571 and 2007 has got to be certifiable. I wouldn't mind if it was relevant to the problem as we know it today.
