I do not know what it is with this forum....but every time a discussion turns to the right direction for something usefull and productive somethign happens and we start swearing at each other.
I said it before and I repeat now that I am trully saddened by how quickly we resolve to hateful remarks! I am totally on Kouroupetos's side when he says about responding to hatred with love.
I thought the point about the people who have the skills to solve the Cyprus issue being in business making money was a good one (as opposed to being politicians). This is the story of each underperforming country.
In here I sense that people are eager to give up the fight for an acceptable solution too easily in exchange for a good "vrisidi" that's Greek for cursing!
I am not looking for a packaged solution out of a forum conversation. When I asked if you think there is anything we can do I meant more a gradual approach:
- first we meet personally
- then we establish the facts that we agree on
- we define the ideal situation
- we define the obstacles to get to the ideal situation
- we debate ways to remove the obstacles
This could be made in the form of a club or an association that will become powerful enough to start publishing positions that come from a group of Greek and Turkish Cypriots. Greeks and Turks are welcome too if they genuinely want to help our island progress.
By the way I met Niazi Kizilurek a while back when I was active in a student association in Berlin and I would be interested to reconnect with him. Anyone can give me his email address?
thanks and look forward to some productive "criticism" (if you have to:)) to my suggestions
