Bloody Turks!

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Michalism » Fri Nov 07, 2008 9:11 pm

I do not know what it is with this forum....but every time a discussion turns to the right direction for something usefull and productive somethign happens and we start swearing at each other.

I said it before and I repeat now that I am trully saddened by how quickly we resolve to hateful remarks! I am totally on Kouroupetos's side when he says about responding to hatred with love.

I thought the point about the people who have the skills to solve the Cyprus issue being in business making money was a good one (as opposed to being politicians). This is the story of each underperforming country.

In here I sense that people are eager to give up the fight for an acceptable solution too easily in exchange for a good "vrisidi" that's Greek for cursing!

I am not looking for a packaged solution out of a forum conversation. When I asked if you think there is anything we can do I meant more a gradual approach:
- first we meet personally
- then we establish the facts that we agree on
- we define the ideal situation
- we define the obstacles to get to the ideal situation
- we debate ways to remove the obstacles

This could be made in the form of a club or an association that will become powerful enough to start publishing positions that come from a group of Greek and Turkish Cypriots. Greeks and Turks are welcome too if they genuinely want to help our island progress.

By the way I met Niazi Kizilurek a while back when I was active in a student association in Berlin and I would be interested to reconnect with him. Anyone can give me his email address?

thanks and look forward to some productive "criticism" (if you have to:)) to my suggestions

Last year they came over for a holiday and one day I tried to get Kemal across to see the other part of Cyprus. Well, they would not let him, at the check point, because he entered Cyprus through Larnaca. I found this very odd.

I have just stumbled across an article written by the famous Turkish journalist Can Dündar
http://www.candundar.com.tr/index.php?Did=2725
in which he chronicles a visit to Cyprus via Larnaka airport. He attempted to cross to the north in the course of this visit, but was denied entry by the immigration officer (or should that be "immigration officer") at the northern end. When questioned, the following two reasons were given:

1. Even if a Greek citizen enters the TRNC, they are denied entry to the south. This is a tit-for-tat measure.
2. Turkey does not recognise the Greek Cypriot administration and this measure is consistent with non-recognition.

It seems that Dündar was able to get some influential Turkish Cypriot journalists to pull a few strings and he was finally given special leave to enter as a RoT citizen. His entry slip, showing his nationality as RoT, is included in the article and (if I have managed to get the technique for displaying images right) is reproduced below:

Turkey may have done all she could in the past, we're in the 21st century, things have changed.... Cyprus still stands and Cypriot people be it Greek or Turkish should work together for a common bond.

As far as the Cyprus Problem is concerned the only thing that matters has NOT changed .....

Turkey is still illegally occupying Cyprus, and 200,000 GCs are without their rightful homes.

If you want to bond with Turks ... go to Turkey!

And at least 100,000 TCs are in the dispora because of the Cyprus problem...But hey, they don't count for Oracle...She is full of hatred and bitterness for the Turks...Has only a one-eyed view of history...

Really all those TCs fleeing to live with GCs, anywhere but in Cyprus! If the TCs are fleeing Cyprus it is to get away from the Turks also ... otherwise they would have all joined them in Turkey. Clearly not! So the GCs are not the problem ... but as I have always said all along, the Bloody Turks!

So excuse me if I don't rejoice in blind love for the Turks currently illegally occupying my country and keeping my people from their rightful homes.

Hey Oracle, you're going to love this! Probably GR too...

Just in case you haven't heard, Expatkiwi is being ostracised by his ATCA colleagues as a "Turk Hater". It doesn't matter that Expatkiwi still supports independence recognition for the north. He had the gall to tell people on the ATCA forum that Turkey's overly excessive military presence in the north, plus Turkey's economic stanglehold on the north has made an utter mockery of the north's independence claims. He also pointed out that there are some other things about Turkey he does not support (he mentioned specifically the closure of Turkey's border to Armenia and the denial of self-determination for the Kurds), and for expressing his views on this, he is being pilloried! Looks like Expatkiwi is learning the hard way about the attitudes of people living in the north...

Give him a few more months, and he will come to hate the TCs too, as he now does the Turks ....

He is taking the long way round, but his enlightenment will come and he will learn to love the GCs
