Bloody Turks!

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Nothing has changed. They are still illegally occupying nearly 40% of Cyprus and keeping 200,000 GCs from their homes with their stationed 43,000 Turkish troops.

And we are in Europe, and part of the EU, and these Asian intruders are plundering the boundaries of the EU and the only country that is turning a blind eye and allowing this to continue is one of our guarantors . . . . the UK.
Never mind the backward USA, that has no rightful say-so in Europe anyway . . . . . but shamefully, Britain, the country I have supported with my taxes and teachings and research over the last 25 years.

Shame on you UK . . . why so much self interest to the exclusion of long term good? Where will it get you, but isolation, along with the Turks, from the rest of civilised Europe.

You are no longer the beacon of Democracy and Human Rights . . . . you are judged by your friends . . . the Turks.

I am glad you said Turks and not TCs. I am no lover of the UK either. I suppose that is why you are retiring to Cyprus?

I am far from retiring deniz . . . .

. . . . . are you jealous? :D

I've just worked out from another thread that you have just had a birthday! Congratulations! Which one? . . . is it a milestone? :D

And does that make you a Scorpio or Sagittarius?[/quote]

So sorry Phoenix mou, I missed this line. No, it make me a goat. /Caprocorn

it really hurts me to read what is going in this forum. May I ask a question to all of you:

where do you think a discussion like this (and I mean getting personal and having no respect of each other) can lead. What can be achieved? Is it about winning an argument? If yes then great let's stick to the debate at hand and refrain from attacking each other personally.

I believe the fact that you are all here discussing these issues is a strong indication that you care...not only for yourselves but also for others. Please allow your side that you can be proud of to shine through this forum. Imagine what we can all do if we focus on the debate at hand with the ultimate goal to get to a better place. To work together toward a solution, one that could be communicated through the media. One that can be an example to be imitated by all our compatriates ....ALL the Cypriots I mean.

how are we ever going to get to a solution that will allow us to live together when you go at each other like that. Phoenix when you start a thread with the title Bloody Turks what kind of a response do you expect from them?

A debate on facts with objectivity is what we should be going for here with the aim to come closer together as citizens of a country that has great potential. Instead we come here with all our subjectivity and throw poison at each other.

Please make an effort to realize that we are all brothers and sisters as human beings and have more in common than you think. Hatred for the other part has been poured into us since we were children at school and at home. I know it is difficult to get rid of the prejudice but we should because prejudice is ALWAYS unfair and has no factual grounds.

I dare you to meet each other personally unbiased and start a conversation from a clean slate with the objective to find what connects you as opposed to what divides you.

...and since we Greek Cypriots are the majority and currently enjoy most of the benefits of being a Cypriot we should take the initiative and invite the Turkish Cypriots to join us.

Bravo Michalism, a thousand bravo! You have hit the nail on the head but bear in mind that not all Cypriots are fanatics. The silent majority will show its teeth one of these days.

I take it you are a TC bizOz? I am very pleased somebody is in agreement with my sentiment. I have been in Eastern Europe for a long time and now I am in the US. Too far away for too long from lovely Cyprus. Any chance we can do something more tangible toward solving the Cyprus issue than just bitch on a web-site?
