Cyprus and Russia:some uncomfortable similarities

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby oranos64 » Sun Oct 21, 2007 12:38 am

[quote="Piratis"]Cymart, Cyprus is among the most democratic countries in the world, with a very direct democratic system "apli analogiki" which is very fair to everybody. If half of the people that came to your wedding vote for your party you can get a seat in the parliament and then be invited to every TV and radio political program.

What we have in Cyprus is by far better than what they have in countries like the UK and USA (for example) where the lower classes of people are living in ghettos and they don't even bother to vote anymore, while the country is actually ruled in turn by 2 parties which in fact are exactly the same and both funded by the same big capitalists. (who in turn take all those poor people to be killed in places like Iraq and Afghanistan so the capitalists can secure their oil.)
As far as "too much Russian involvement with this island", where did you see it??? It is not the Russians who kept us like slaves, and then gave half of our country to the Turks so they could more easily keep two huge bases and their Echelons in Cyprus.[/quote

HHAHAHAHA Cyprus is the picture of a corrupt democracy ..i was in larnca k cinemaplex and for the 3rd time in as many months i witness the minister of security /police force take back handhanders from local business ... im going to nail this guy

all of cyprus from local councilors to lawyers to builders are corrupt ...its all about whos palm is lined up with the most

corruption ..... same as in russia ....so theres the connection ..he has the $$$ gets what he wants end of

2. there are many middle class white christian americans being killed along side poor americans in IRAQ/AFGAN ...the connection being they are all brainwashed by their rich prviatised tv stations and telly evangelist who tell them that IRAQ/MOSLEMS need to convert or die ....

I dont live in Cyprus, but I do read the press on web sites near enough every day and watch RIK Sat.

Politis newspaper is hammering the government daily to the point that sometimes the comment gets in the way of reporting, which is bad journalism. RIK a state run network has a satirical show, Patates Antinaxtes, that caricatures the president in a manner that might be called vulgar in other countries. IT also pokes fun at other politicians and the church.

As for the corruption, I do not think it is worse or better in Cyprus than other western countries. Just think back to the days of Mrs Thatcher and her son, Blair and his wife taking on the lucrative Orams case, the backhanders given to Saudi official that have NOT been investigated becaue it is in the UKs interests not to etc etc.

the only true traitors to cyprus are those who run cyprus as government north and south, and the people they appoint to represent them at home and abroad. plus t v.radio and newspapers. so waht chance has a ny cypriot got to have independent thinking when they are bombarded every second with this brain washing infrmation, information that reenforces the idiology that they are greeks and turks

and you would know yeah ...being you live 1000miles away plus ...

we have 3 types of media here ..left ,right and centretist controlled ,like all nations ..these media outlets present the views of their owners .

the local greek cypriots are very politically aware and knowledged on all matters ...this is why the U.N and U.S was upset by the oxi VOTE ...because the local people voted by reading the small print ..they know what it is to be lied to ...live under the watchfull eye of the enemy (see the area of dhali ) and they will again vote OXI ..because they are happy the way they are but want their lands back but not by submitting to the tyranny of living under TURKISH AUTHORITIES ....

you call those ,who classify themselves here in cyprus correctly Greek cypriot or turkish cyp ..traitors ?..who are you to judge the people are you calling the Heros of EOKA A traitors .?...come over and say that ...you are and all the other cyps on this forum are blind, dumb and stupitd ...

AS ONE GREEK SAID RECENTLY ....we did not rid cyprus of the british rule to accept a future were the Turks would rule us again ...

so buddy wake up and go and enjoy your springbok celebrations and leave us GREEKS Cypriots to prepare for voting next year

According to the EU's own fraud and fund mishandlling agency the top fraud champions of the EU are the big countries, those butter wouldn't melt in their mouth Germans are tops. In the top five are also France, Italy, UK.

IT seems that size matters in this case. Smaller countries like Greece and Cyprus are not anywhere near the top of EU fraud scales.

As far Union fraud goes let us not forget the champions- the good ole US of A. Remember Jimmy Hoffa and the teamsters!

In fraud like in other things we are still "psilikatzides" (small shopkeepers)

Oranos, by the way, I am not a madam, i am a middle aged dude. Since that stupid TV series Nikita people make that mistake with the name.
