DO the TC's agree with this statement?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

does that answer you question? We can also ask Eric as well but i'd like to know if his fellow TC's agree with this.

DT my friend, I think you read too much into Ericdayis post. It is open to different interpretations. It is too vague. We have to accept Erics explanation on this one.

Deniz have you read the posts on this thread? Eric can not be clearer. A TC and a Turk are one and the same.....How many times do you want the poor guy to write this? Turk leaves Turk comes....his words. Read his responses to Iceman and TC.

Who took that status away from you, yourself or was it forced out of you by someone?

I'll let the Secretary-General of the United Nations (Burmese U.Thant 1961…71) inform you in a statement he made in 1965...

"The Turkish Cypriot leaders have adhered to a rigid stand against any measures which might involve having members of the two communities live and work together, or which might place Turkish Cypriots in situations where they would have to acknowledge the authority of Government agents. Indeed, since the Turkish Cypriot leadership is committed to physical and geographical separation of the communities as a political goal, it is not likely to encourage activities by Turkish Cypriots which may be interpreted as demonstrating the merits of an alternative policy. The result has been a seemingly deliberate policy of self-segregation by the Turkish Cypriots" (S/6426).

GR, where did U'thant, bless his pretty socks, get all his information from. No doubt the residue of the Republic of Cyprus Goverment, which was in its totality bereft of any TC representation. They would hardly tell U'thant or his cronies that the TCs were forced or intimidated to leave. Even you can see that, but of course you will toe the party line and go along in covering up any misdeeds the Greek speaking authorities are adept at.
I rest my case.

U Thant was UN Secretary General at a time the UN had plenty of its people on the ground in Cyprus. They had direct knowledge of the situation. And they did not have to look too far, remember that Turk to Turk campaign? It happened around that time too. And the exclusion of Greeks from the Turkish areas of cities had been started back in 1957-8. Greek Cypriot garbage men could not enter to collect the garbage, a move that was supposed to lead to separate municipalities. Those were strange times.

We all know about the 'From Turk to Turk' campaign and have seen the negative effects as well. That is a different thread altogether.

I still stand by what I say re: U'thants statement.

Thank you Nikitas

I'm Cypriot, Turkish Cypriot. Whenever I'm in Turkey and am asked my origin I reply I'm Turkish from Cyprus to which the Turk responds with "oh you are Kibrisli" meaning you are Cypriot. This is a clear indications that our cousins on the mainland see us as a different race, a different type of Turk.

I'm proud of my culture and my Cypriotness. This does not mean I'm denying my Turkish connection.

Racists exist on both sides of the Green Line, Nikitas. One only has to look through this forum to confirm this.

It seems that you have your ENOSIS, and Partition too. You took a part of Cyprus and turned it into a mini Turkey complete with a Kurdish minority! You have Turkish lira, army, flags, education system the whole deal. So are you so upset? Why aren't you happy?

I am not upset Nikitas, your GC comrades are upset because I refuse to accept them as my masters and forget my Turkishness. Go and ask them why they keep trying to force me and all TCs to do what they want us to do but maybe you know their answers already because you want the same as they do.
