DO the TC's agree with this statement?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

No matter how much you like to see yourself as a Turk they will NEVER see or treat you as one of them...I know this because i have 33 years of experience living with them. How long have you lived with them Eric?Have you ever been in a dispute or argument with a mainland Turk??
The first think they will tell you is "Shut the fuck up...we saved your ass from the Greeks and this land is ours now....you dont like it?...Fuck off..!!"
I learned my history by living it Eric not from google or my elders stories who left Cyprus 40-50 years ago!!

The problem is that not only do some TCs see themselves as different to mainland Turks but they even see themselves as being different to those TCs who have been living outside of the TRNC for a while and specially those who were born in foreign countries. Why is that iceman?

I suppose that has to do with the fact that TC's in Cyprus believe those who left the island at times of trouble deserted their community in time of need...

Iceman
Do you live in Lefcosa...If you do then go see the teacher who is known as Hatice hanim and ask her what she thinks of the Turks and what they think of her. Sorry mate but you are taking your own personal problems to extremes. I have spoken to many others that are happy and those that are not. I am not being funny but you sound like those racists and xenophobic people I see all the time in the UK. You and I bot want the perfect situation but lets be a realistic about this. Recognition or our rights back in the "RoC" will see us right. Be patient.

Your second remark is uncalled for......My dad managed to scrape together just about money to get 8 of us out of a war zone....Those that could did. I have had a go at those that call those in the TRNC/KKTC morons and think they are not strong and I will have a go at you for doing the same.....We are TCs all and it's about time we respected each and every one of us.

It's easy for you or any other TC living abroad to say "be patient"...We do not share the same worries and those living outside Cyprus are not aware of the real problems we face...I wouldn't expect you to understand these.

I am sorry if you were upset with the second part of my reply to Eric's question but that is not my opinion it's a general belief many TC's share deep down...

good one zan!

...but, are you Turkish Cypriot and Cypriot, and is this too, indivisible?

We are trying to help Iceman......You know what my sister said a while back with tears in her eyes.....She gave me a big kiss and said " I believe it was your destiny to leave Cyprus and survive so that you could help them when you grew up instead of being killed". I don't believe in destiny but the irony is overwhelming.

I understand where you are coming from mate but tell me what you intend to do...What is it that you want...I wish that I could say that every TC that lives in the TRNC?KKTC says the same thing but they don't. Sure they complain about the Turks and so do I at times but what is the alternative...Do you want to go into the `"RoC" and if so why don't you....I am not trying to get you angry here...I just want to know what you want.

No ones saying the Turks shouldn't be there at all...but there are SO MANY that it's beyond a joke. We are losing our culture and the people who are really attached to and understand Cyprus are leaving!

Many nationalists are not thinking about things properly. Their views stem from their parents...who lived in Cyprus when there was no independence. We were either Turks or Greeks. Plus we were just VILLAGERS with villager mentality! Considering all the mainlanders' glories and what not, no wonder the Cypriots wanted to associate with the motherlands so much. But times have changed! We are now proud of our villager roots. Our culture, traditions and history stand no chance to survive if more and more Turks come to Cyprus.

The GCs have 50k Pontians and they're complaining! The Pontians ARE Anatolians, and I very much doubt they would be happy if the Pontians ended up as the majority. I think it's very naive to think TCs and Anatolians are the same! It's like saying a Mercedes Jeep and a Mercedes 2 seater are exactly the same....They are not! Same company but DIFFERENT car!

I ve heard a lot of sentimental nonsense from Charlies and Johnies, but this has to be the No1.
