DO the TC's agree with this statement?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

"My daughter is married to a Kalamaras" (term used by Cypriots for mainland Greeks). I was surprised.

"Mr H. your daughter married a Kalamaras?"

"Yep, she did, and now hey live in Kyrenia" That floored me. His daughter married a mainland Greek and lived in Kyrenia, in 1980!!! It sounded like the ramblings of a disturbed individual. Then came the clincher:

"You know, our Kalamarases are worse than yours" said Mr H. and that explained it all!

The Turkish "kalamaras" are called Karasakals

Feejia.=seaweeds

I havent heard that word for yonks.
We used to call it Fija = Metaphorically dross, dregs etc. I am only refering to the word itself. (no confusion please)
Never heard it applied to humans, but I see the point they are making. I think most TCs do not want these settlers, but because of their kind nature they show tacit acceptance of these poor wretches who have most probably been displaced. This kindness is the ruination of the TCs. Soon they will be politically flooded.

Propably they started using it well after 1974 Deniz? Did you leave in 1963??

If that's your desired result then one might ask you why you don't go to live in Turkey or do you prefer this scenario out of spite? :?

VP
When was the last time you went to a school in North Cyprus? Do you know the proportion of settlers kids to genuine TC children at schools? I suggest you visit a school or ask some TC teacher what the situation is..
How are they going to adopt to our culture when there is MORE of them than us?? Stop kidding yourself...They are systematically destroying our culture on daily basis..

iceman we made our choice and have been rejected yet again by the GCs, what do you expect you have to make the best of what you have life goes on and does not wait for arrogant and despost GCs to decide whether they want to share this island as 2 equal communities.

For the 'trnc' to be closer to Turkey this means is YOU who will adapt to the settler mentality not the settlers to yours. This means the settlers will outnumber you or drive most of you out of Cyprus.

Of course there is always the comfort of inventing Zan type excuses.Like watching Turkish settler boys playing barefoot in his old neighborhood and imagining his life started all over again, from where he left it some 50 years ago.

VP doesn’t understand that what DIFFERENTIATES AND VALIDATES the TC community is the EXISTANCE of the GC community!

If the TC community was to ever officially join Turkey it would quite simply cease to exist.

That of course is something that people like VP, Eric, Zan, and many others couldn’t care less about which FURTHER PROVES that they couldn’t care less about Cyprus so any reference to them as "Cypriot" is totally bogus.
