I know I have recommended this book before but this is how good it is...Anyone who reads and does not read this is missing something.

If any one wants to get into the head of a autistic type mind...If they have a relative or anyone they know that has an illness like that...then " The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night" will be invaluable to you. I have mentioned this book as well but I don't think that I gave an explanation of why it is so good. It is like one of those 3D pictures were you have to stare at it for a while before you get the effect...When you first see the picture in 3D everyone shouts "I'm in" and for a while you are in another world. This book had the same effect on me. You are in control and then you are not. Wonderful.

"Life of Pi" was mesmerising, Zan . . . I recommended too on the first page.

I did see that and you are absolutely right...Loved it, loved it, loved it...Mesmerising is a very good word for it.

I have the ability to switch off from one argument and discord and talk about another harmonious subject Phoenix. I don't hate for the sake of it.

A very healthy attitude and one which I share. :D

Zan, since you liked "Pi" . . . you may enjoy "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini. It shares similarities in that it's the world seen through the eyes of a young boy and it drifts across cultures. It's obviously more political based in Afghanistan but again a very captivating story.

Why do you celebrate Christmas when you're not religious . . . or are you?

We celebrate the Winter Solstice on the 22nd December (usually) . . . to avoid hypocrisy! . . . and because it makes more sense to celebrate a natural phenomenon rather than a Human fantasy that divides people.

I don't celebrate any religious festivals. I just enjoy them. There is no need to be pedantic about not believing...I hate to be pigeon holed by the word atheist by the way...It just sounds like another religion.

I'm not picking on Christianity, Oranos . . . just the general principles of religion.
I especially hate the commercialism of Christmas.
I am not a "wicca" . . . just use the Winter Solstice as a convenient time to celebrate life on Earth.
