What is the best book you have read lately

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

I've read LOOOOADS of books! Delores Claiborne has to be one of my favorites though. Has anyone read it? It's very cleverly written.

My grandad was a writer too...He wrote quite a few books during his time and some under the false name Ferit Goren. He's also mentioned on http://www.cypnet.co.uk/ under TC literature but with his real name. :D

No zan. I've tried but I can't seem drag a story on for more than a few pages...I'll definately give it a shot one day though.

Sorry guys for not replying back sooner but still troubles with Internet grrrr :(

Anyway, few comments!

@Phoenix

I do love novels and especially the one that are based on true facts or events like the one I mentioned. Odysseas Avramidis, one of my favorite authors write with this style. But if its a good book I dont mind reading it at all. I love books as much as I hated them while i was a child.

@Joan

Thanks for your recommendations, i wrote them all down and i will read them hopefully soon.

I also read couple of Demoulidou books and loved them too. She is really a good author. My mum loves Paolo Coelo very much. By the way Joan I am glad you are around :) I know i said it again but ... :D

@Maria Evri, Crivens, Zan, T_C

Thanks for your recommendations

@Free-Cyprus

Personally I do tend to hate the books that usually come from American industry and begin with "how to become/make/do/be/say..." etc or the "power of .."

By the way free Cyprus try to hold yourself and dont destroy this thread with political debates. If you can not do it grab the childish member (Get Real) and go and play some where together.

By the way, I am finishing a book called "A child called it", which one of my best friend gave me in the airport before i leave Cyprus, its a very shocking book but I enjoy reading it.

LENA wrote:I would like to know good books...love reading and I just finished reading the best book I have ever read the last 2-3 years.

Its called "Θεανώ: Η λύκαινα της Πόλης"!!! One of the best! If you can read Greek try this out.

One of the books that a friend told me lately that I should read is "Birds without wings"!

Any other suggestions?
What is your favorite book?

Lena , i had his book during my last trip and i foun it excellent. The last i hve finished is the "O EFIALTIS TOY VOSPOROY". A real story of five Greek seamen hold in Tukish jail in 1974 (they arrested with their ship passing Bosphorus when Turkish invasion in Cyprus started).

An other good book is the Cprus problem with the eyes of others of Messrs Antreas Stergiou and Heinz Richter.

A last ,no good written but excellent scenario is "H SALPIGA tHS APOKALYPSIS" of Mr Konstaninos Grivas

The best i saw was the "MUSTAFA KEMAL -HIS LIFE IN THESSALONIKI" of Mr Christos K.Christodouloy. This book changed my view how the Modern Turkey had been established.

cors you hate the books that come from amarica, a good book can come from anywehre in the world it does not have to be from america for one to enjoy the books, descartes was french for example , did not mention him earlier, also i never read fiction books i always read none fictions books, thats why sweet lena i dont have a problem expressing myself the way i do even if i swear, but you are still not a free thinker your still a good little girl that you are

An excellent book is "An Evil Cradling" by Brian Keenan. It really is an emotional rollercoast. As well as being a good read it also questions religion and politics and really gives the reader something to think about. Its also about true friendship and mans inhumanity to man. I have read it twice and just couldn't put it down. Bit sad though for a holiday read.
