Don't jump on the bandwagon too soon Ricco... Jean Christou is not exactly a "legal expert" and I'll bet he didn't even bother to check the two bodies I posted links to before writing his article.

Politis quoted sources at the office of EU Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn as saying the use of occupied Famagusta port was not illegal under international law and that the issue was a bilateral one between Cyprus and Syria.

What has what Olli Rehn said got to do with Jean Christou Get Retard?

Jean Christou is just a reporter repeating the words of Olli Rehn which was quoted by Politis or does a reporter have to be a "legal expert" to report what others (in this case the EU) say?

You need a bigger shovel Get Retard, the one you've been supplied with is too small to dig a big enough hole for your stupidity.

Why don't you give us the relevant parts GR????

Zan,
GR can't give the relevant parts because UNCLOS has got bugger all to do with ferries going in and out of ports, legal or 'illegal'. And neither has the IMO.

He just posted the links thinking that no one would read them anyway     He is so transparent that he makes glass look like it has no transparency at all..

Again it won't last long because it is still illegal just as it was in 1978 when they first tried this.

There has been speculation in the local press that Syria did a deal with the TRNC after receiving assurances from Turkey that it would not let Israeli jets fly over Turkish territory to attack Syria.

The Cypriot government says opening such a ferry operation is illegal as the harbour of Famagusta in the north is a declared "closed access point" to and from the republic. It says this is backed by UN resolutions.

A similar link started in 1978 -- four years after the Turkish invasion and seizure of the north of the Mediterranean island -- but lasted only about a year.

(This may not open properly for some reason, but try typing it in long hand . . . if desperate).

In case you haven't woken up yet sock-puppet, that was nearly 30 years ago and a hell of a lot has changed since then. Even the EU has changed it's mind about supporting you GCs in your illegal embargoes and your dream of a Greek Cyprus.

All you are now doing is to try and ease the pain of reality of what is inevitable.

Like I said before, it has started.

This section of the article is talking rubbish. If Israel ever wanted to attack Syria they could just fly over the Golan heights (Israeli-held Syrian territory) and straight into Syria.

Don't make BIG statements my intellectually challenged friend because ABSOLUTELY NOTHING has changed for the "TRNC" in the last three decades. There's a BIG difference between what some people say, especially after being given a free holiday villa in the illegal north, and what they actually do...

Quite right, which is why I did not comment on it but thought it titillating enough to leave in. :D

Syria has sensitive military installations in the North, which Israeli jets cannot reach by flying over enemy territory. That's why they had to fly over Turkey during the latest incident.

Olli Rehn had a free holiday in the TRNC?

I understand your pain Get Retard.

BTW, tell me something, what has the "RoC" achieved regarding the CypProb, ENOSIS, osmosis or anthing else for that matter, apart from being sucked into the EU where it is a hell of lot easier to force it to toe the line, hmmmm?

You are now even forced to give up your strong Cyp£ and adopt the weaker Euro. No more free hand at laundering millions of £s, no more helping the PKK terrorists and all sorts of other restrictions, hope you are happy with it all.
