I would infer that since there has been such a huge increase in the number of TCs that "visit" the south, and since there now concomitantly follows, an increase in the crime rate . . . then is it not possible they are the cause of the effect that is reported.

Phoenix my love. I am in the unenviable position of not being able to read GC Greek language news papers. So my source of information is the Cyprus Mail, which many on the forum despise as being an organ of the British. But when I scrutinise the pages - especially the crime and traffic incidents, a vast majority of these are committed by Eastern Europeans.
So your assessment might be a tad erroneous. I must admit that I have come accross 'Turkish' names, but these could be Turkish Kurds or Turks or even TCs. But then I think the crimes commited by this latter group would be infinitessimally small in comparisons with the East Europeans. May be there are some RoC figures which would give a breakdown of crimes commited. We can ask GR from his extensive resources. That is if he has yet recovered from last nights, last gasp equiliser. Please console him.

i can give you quick breakdown of stats/accepted stats
immigration - illegals mainly of TURKISH VIA NORTH account for 40%
syrians - 25% (stop the ferry route now ) africans - 20% ..others remainder.

there are more white collar crimes commited by Greek cyps in cyprus than any other Race
more violence related crime by Eastern /former CIS nationals in cyprus than any other nationality
stealing - crime related to stealing goods or breaking and entry mainly by GREEK CYPS AND T CYPS ..in the south ..(gangs working togeather ..normally drug related )
THE WORSE AREAS ARE PAPHOS ,NICOSIA AND LIMASSSOL ...areas with loads of foreign immigrants ...i do classify stealing food as a crime ...22 people were arrested for that in paphos this year alone ...

note ...lets not take the piss here .....most foreign workers are badly mistreated and underpaid ,housed in horrible accomadation ...the housekeepers are treated like slaves and when there time is up ...some false story is made up ...like they were stealing and so arrested ..so their rich/middleclass employer does not have to pay them off example
one lady of filopino decent was arrrested for stealing a sleeping bag from her employer .....because it was in her room ....her room was cold and this was last winter...the sleeping bag was obiviously used to keep her warm ... no they dragged her into the street and the lady was arrested and charged ..CID are now investigating the case ...a year later ,because some nice people like me complained ..now that she was deported ...

Thanks for your input, oranos64. Could you describe to me your definition of 'white collar crime'? Stealing food for 'babies/famities' - if that is the case would tend to support your views on poor pay and conditions. We keep on hearing these injustices to foreign workers.What kind of European Goverment allows for this to happen?
