What is the legal age to drive a car ? Is it 18 ? If so am I right in presuming you can't drive whilst 17 on a British Licence ?

You can get a provisional licence at 17 years old.

17 years old you may drive a scooter with a provisional license
18 years of age you can apply for a provisional licence to drive a car, this will mean that you will have to display "L" plates back & front and also be accompanied by a qualified driver.

Once you have passed you test...drive safe

u can have a learner licence at 17 and full licence at 18 but you cannot use the english licence and drive at 17 like in uk u cant use an american licence and drive at 16 or even 15 from canada i think it is?

message to instrustor,My wife is 27 and has her British provisional license and has passed her theory test we are moving to Cyprus in august and she hopes to have passed her test before then but if incase she doesnt manage is she able to take a few lessons and do her test in Cyprus or would she have to wait 6 months ?
