Because the offer was conditional - Going against Nazi Germany with their ill equipped army even before they were prepared for war. What I can tell you is that many 1000s of Cypriots fought on the site of the UK during WWII with the fake promise that after the war Cyprus would be liberated.

My answer was not that, look again.

If the British treated the people they occupied as commodities, how were they better than the Nazis? Why didn't they let the Cypriot people free to decide the destiny of their own island in a democratic way? Why even after forcing on us the constitution they wanted they forced us to accept to have 2 huge UK military bases on our island? I thought colonialism was supposed to be over? Or was that just a slogan to make the British look better than the Nazis?

Well what's really wrong with Cyprus today is that there are 40,000 Turkish troops stopping 200,000 Cypriots from returning to their homes and we are letting the TCs and Turkey get away with murder.

yeah lets get the national guard on them ,..o shit ...they just killed one of their own ...forced a 18 year old kid to drive a 2 ton truck after being depraved of sleep for nearly a week ..some of my students did nikoforos with him ...kid drove a truck for a weeek none stop after 4 nights of guard duty ...he had 8 hours sleep in three days whose going to convince his family that we are better than the T.CS ...

tell you what wrong with cyprus ...we have no honour and no respect and we have a national guard run by a bunch of racist rambo wanna bes ...

dont tell me about military i train real troops ...i also watch the 40000 turkish troops train ...they train like men,they have programs and trainin g excercises ...heck they even understand what military ,army training is ...no we just ring our relatives to get us out of it

last weeks nikiforos was a waste of money adn time ...2000 rang in and got off the training ...anotherload of men spent hours doing nothing but camping ...no training ,no combat traning and no knowledge gain ...the turks practise NATO and senerio training ...something we will never do ....

lies ,dishonesty ...time for national guard to go pro and stop this bullshit ....

then we can begin on the other crap ....like teaching discipline to civillians

Bigger picture Piratis - bigger picture. Cyprus has been a small cog in a very large wheel for decades and will most likely remain so. As a previous post said - it's not the centre of the universe.

Oranos, fighting takes many forms, not just an armed struggle.

Fighting was what all those real Cypriots did during the Ottoman era. While every now and then they tried their luck with an armed straggle, most of the time they simply resisted the oppressors and maintained their language and religion despite the huge benefits of changing.

Fighting for us now means to resist the pressure and not to sign any capitulation agreements. We have to be patient and continue to demand what is ours. Never for a moment let the enemy believe that they won this war. The war will end only with the liberation of Cyprus.
