Airfares for 2008

Postby Cypriotatheart » Mon Oct 15, 2007 8:48 am

I have just been checking prices for a week covering Easter in Cyprus and the best value for money turned out for me to be CY. Under £200 stg from Heathrow to Larnaca. The "cheapie charters" were offering me £300 and more and no guarantee on the final scheduled time of departure. Thought it would be good to leave to nearer the date but many schools in my area are putting off the school holidays to near the end of April because of UK Easter being so early this year.
So if you are also planning visits next year and have fairly set days it is worth checking now.
This year I did one trip with BA with a terrible outward journey due to a mechanical failure. We finished up arriving around midnight instead of 4.p.m. The good point was that the plane returned after about ten minutes to Heathrow rather than continue with one engine.
My other visit was meant to be with Eurocypria, 8hrs 30 min delay and a meal that was uneatable, I was told it was not one of their meals but one taken on at LGW. On the return journey we had a 3 hours delay and the plane was Bulgarian but the food had been provided by Eurocypria and was quite good.

As you see I do consider all choices but soon decide which to leave out in future.

I use Cyprus Airways now whenever I can. Prices are lower than anyone else, and I have yet to suffer a significant delay with them. Food served on board is not for human consumption, but hey - eat before you get on! - it's better for you in the long run anyway.

I usually enjoy the food on CY.
Yes Globespan do a good price but it depends on when you book and what time of day you want.

BA do me fine evertime. As for the food - I couldn't comment, I'm asleep before takeoff and only wake up on landing !
