TRNC hails maiden ferry voyage to Syria

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Anyway, won't this look really bad for Turkey whilst it's trying to behave in order to join the EU . . . violating ports in the occupied areas.

Turkey violating ports in the TRNC? they sail here every day anyway, this is between the TRNC and Syria which you guys tried to stop but it still went ahead anyway.

I guess Turkey knew what it was doing when it gave up being secular recently. Wearing scarfs is not such a high price to pay to "persuade" other Muslim countries they are all in this together.

Are you suggesting that Turkey bullied Syria to accept some stupid ferry from the TRNC? That is just absurd.

Turkish-Syrian relations have been improving recently mainly due to American pressure to put embargoes on Syria. Syria simply needs all the friends that it can get.

Just today 40,000 Syrians crossed into Turkey for the Bayram.

EXACTLY!!! . . . Syria is forced to be "friends" with Turkey and is obviously doing this favour to Turkey in order to not have its water cut off!

Well, that's how countries operate ...
And besides there are no "friends" in politics, only common interests.

The one single ferry going to Syria is not the problem. The BIG PROBLEM is that there is not ONE single ferry linking Cyprus to Greece. The two major maritime nations of the EU do not have ferry link. It is a joke.

Also there was a regular RO/RO link between Volos and Lattakia that was stopped some years ago. As were the links between Greece and Israel. Sometimes shipping links are kept for strategic reasons regardless of market forces. We fucked up on this one and now we are paying for it. If there were three Limassol Lattakia links per week there would be no need for this silly ferry.

Hopefully this will be the start of things to come and provide a stark wake up call for the GC administration that things may develop which they will regret later on for not taking action to bridge the chasm which is getting wider with every stubborn and arrogant step they do not take.

This "chasm" you keep bringing up VP, how do you see it bridged?

Do you realise there need never be a chasm if the 40,000 Turkish troops go back to Turkey and the 200,000 ethnically cleansed GCs can go back to their rightful homes.

If it were only that simple...You see it as solving your problems but we see it as the start of ours. Many more problems than the refugees and the Turkish army exist.

Nonsense. Your people would start living like human beings for once… have a guess why you’re living in England and not the “TRNC”! It’s easy for you to shout partition from far away but if you were living there you wouldn’t be happy under those conditions.
