The Turkish Cypriot Shame File...

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby growuptcs » Fri Oct 12, 2007 1:09 am

MR-from-NG, for the first time I have to say God bless you, coming from a TC, of how we been feeling all along while the rest bring up pre-1974. Yes we acknowledge the difficulties then, but we can't change that and everyone knows that. We just have to deal with the issue today, with reasonable minds, theres no other way. Exploitation to the north is not the answer that the majority in the north lean on and rub in our faces. Theres more civil ways to deal with this issue if we can just acknowledge that we are all human beings that have the same color blood.

Let me tell you something Zanny...

I’ve lost count how many times I’ve stood up for YOUR religion, not just in this forum but also in Middle East forums and talkbacks like Haaretz and others taking on the toughest of Zionists night after night, yet you seemingly don’t have the SLIGHTEST of interest or regret that MY religion, and our HERRITAGE I might add, is getting trashed. :(

For what its worth contrary to common belief a good percentage of TCs have not gained in any shape or form whatsoever from GC losses and furthermore they detest those that have.

@GR thanks for the vote of confidence mate.

I have said it before and will say it again...Every time I approached anyone about buying land in the TRNC/KKTC I was always given the piece of advise, "Don't buy GC property. Do the proper checks".

Well said MR-from-NG. That is what we have been telling them all along.

I'm glad you agree Zan. Its a moral thing really. Imagine building your dream home on some poor GC persons land and he knocks on your door with his deeds and tells you it was left to him from his father which was left to him from the grandfather and that they one day wish to build their dream home and live in it. How the hell am I gonna get any sleep from then on? The feeling of guilt would kill me. And I know these feelings are shared by you and the vast majority of TCs.

This is a very sad and complex situation and I hope it is resolved in a fair civil manner.

The looting of national treasures - from ANY land - is something to be deplored.

Simple, you would presumably give it back! . . . hence no guilt.

Not being cynical or anything, I was ready to jump on the bandwagon and congratulate your stance . . . but now I think your guiding principles are those of an astute business man who knew he may have to one day hand back the GC land and perhaps not the philanthropist you may wish to portray.

You didn't stand up for my religion. What you stood up for ( and I can only guess at this) is for what you believe in. Expect the same from me and stop trying to put me down as you normally do to my people. You obviously had doubts about what we would think so you might as well of asked what we think of murderers and pedophiles and come to your sordid conclusions.

I'm in total agreement with you growuptc. We are Cypriots, we are a unique race. Our generosity, kindness and hospitality is legendary. I don't care what anybody says but I believe all true Cypriots feel each-others pain and do not get pleasure from each others misfortunes.

I don't think you'll be alone when it comes to fighting for your rights regarding your properties. I for one will demand a fair and just settlement for you guys when that day comes. As I said, work hard for your money you'll have my respect. Make your money from the misfortunes of others and I will demand you give it back. Simple as that.

Only when our thoughts get clouded for a short while when we think of the possibility of the Cyprus being run by people like you....

Sorry but have to disagree with you phoenix, you've misinterpreted the whole thing. My feelings are on moral grounds and not financial. I'm not doing it to get praise or credit from you guys. This is from the heart. I'm a property owner in the UK, Spain (Ibiza) and Cyprus. I would hate to lose any of them, I worked damn hard to acquire them, I guess the GC that lost his property worked just as hard if not harder than me.
