The ceasefire line and displaced refugees imply a territorial dispute and the ignored UN resolutions imply that there is pending international law to be executed so he is right in saying that Cyprus is technically still at war with Turkey as none of the above have been settled.
The stalemate exists for obvious reasons.
Then I would argue that the RoC has an obligation to warn potential visitors to Cyprus of this fact.
In all honesty if one stood in the high street and did a poll of 100 tourists of this fact all 100 would not have a clue what you was on about. OK, technically you guys may consider yourselves at war with Turkey but again tell your tourists that they are in fact in a war zone they would think you were certifiable.
Let's just say I don't expect the dept of tourism to rush out to all ports to hand out leaflets tomorrow...
