Why did Tpap not negotiate it properly??? Kifeas told us that he did not have enough time    Five fucking drafts and he did not have enough time.....He did have enough time to realise that the whole thing was going to cast the "RoC" 4 billion plus pounds though for their part in the mess......No wonder he was crying.......First Makarios destroys our chances of unity and then Tpap bankrupts us all....Nice going.

What I meant to ask, further to Piratis' post is:

Is Greek taught in your schools?

If you find the Turkish Language offensive why should the Turks not feel the same in the North?

Because Deniz . . . the Greek language was predominant on the island when you Turks chose to Invade us . . . so you couldn't have found it so repugnant otherwise you would have stayed away.

For me the use of Turkish on Cyprus is a constant reminder of the invaders and their presence.

I say do away with the contaminating Turkish language.

So, care to answer the question so that we may know how well you are educating the next generation of Huns?

This is what awaits TCs in a unified Cyprus.

Do you still want to unify and live with these people who hate you and your language?

May we never see the day when we have to be second class citizens to these sort of racist people who would eliminate us without hesitation just because we are Turkish Cypriots.

Thank God we have our own country and are safe with the Turkish Army watching over us.

eric ...wake up ....turkish is taught to kids of the american academy schools in cyprus ..whether they are greek or english ....a child that speaks the three languages will benefit in the future once a solution solution or bi community businesses are more common

its not hate nor distrust ...but common ground that must be recognised and understood ...both must admit mistakes and then work on their future ...

forget phoneix .... he speaks for himself ....

Now, correct me if I am wrong, but those Cypriots living on this island, that are 50 yrs plus, speak greek and turkish. I only say this as I have come across it a few times. Those Cypriots that are of greek desent (my old neighbours where i used to live in nicosia), would tell me stories of how they would speak turkish and greek and how they used o have turkish lira too. Now, they lived happily on this island pre 1974 with the mixed culture, even with the pre-history between turkey and greece and they have been able to put the past behind them and get on with life.

So why, is it the younger generation that can not get over the raid or the divide? It strikes me as odd due to it being the generation who were not alive or living in the country at the time of 74, who are the ones stilla rguing over it.

Not picking a fight, just trying to understand a culture that I can only see an outside view on and one that isn't taking either sides but sitting on a fence.

Beth it is clear that you have been reading only Greek history because you have started with the year 1974 and have not read about what happened before.

The period between 1963 and 1974 was the best time for the Turkish Cypriots...We got on like a house on fire...Literally.....Our houses were burned to the ground by the village load. We were forced into 3% of our own country and then the nice GCs thought that we should have some music while we starved so they made a recording of a song especially for us. They then played that song through loud speakers because they knew that it was hard for us to travel without a UN escort for fear of our lives. They taunted us that Turkey did not come to save us as we thought they would. They helped us with our health through not allowing us saturated fats in our diets because that would have shortened our lives by decades..In fact they stopped giving us food all together to help the process along. Why wait until you are old...Kill the babies when they are young and you will not have the problems later....

Please read a bit more about the subject......

What history you think I have read? I've read the Turks version and the greek's version and they both contridict each other, therefore, I am going with the version told to me by the old locals that i've lived around the past 2 and a half years. I know the history but you all seem to bring up 1974 as the major date. I know about the 1960's agreement from all 3 counter parts and how the turks broke this, I know about turkey kidnapping greeks and vice versa, I know about the history of what this island holds.

However, I am not confident to qoute dates and such and I am not running through tht t'net just to get them. Free speech, free forum and I have said before, I am not on either side, right on the fence here.

Poor T_C, as if Turkey would ever let the TC community live in peace without having her smelly foot right in their midst.
