Are you those same Ottoman Turks that invaded our island about 400 years ago, or you emigrated to Cyprus much more recently?

What is the "official" history on this, and does any TCs have a different opinion?

And one more question: Do the TCs celebrate the first Turkish invasion, when Lala Mustafa landed to Cyprus butchering 10s of thousands of Cypriots?

We're a bunch of Turkish peasants that were dumped and neglected in Cyprus by the Ottomans. We were not "special" like some GCs want to make out. The only "privilege" we had was paying less tax because of our religion. Other than that we were completely neglected!

And No we do not celebrate 1571.

The answer has been given a thousand times..It's not our fault that people ignore it. We are Turkish Cypriots. We are both Turkish and Cypriot..By blood and by allegiance to our country, which is not the "RoC" by the way......How much clearer do we have to be???

OK this is an "acceptable" answer, but still it is not clarified whether this is the official point of view of the regime that is taught in schools.
Further more i remember in 1971 that the Famagusta TCs celebrated the 400th anniversary of the invasion. I still remember the huge banner that was hanged on the Famagusta Walls commemorating the event .
