Piratis wrote:denizaksulu, Hitler invaded foreign countries, killed thousands of people and violated the rights of many more. Thats exactly what the Turks are doing in Cyprus.
In fact when Hitler invaded Czechoslovakia he used the exact same excuse that the Turks used to invade Cyprus, to supposdedly protect the German minority there
After suffering under the oppression of the British, Turkish and other foreigners for centuries, don't you think you should have allowed Cypriots to finally rule our island in a democratic way and take our own decisions, instead of trying to continue forcing us your own will?
The Cyprus problem is that of foreigners oppressing the Cypriot people. And you are right, it didn't start in 1974, but many centuries before. And it will end when those foreigners piss of from our country and allow Cypriots to rule their island in a democratic way.

Now you will tell me that it was not Turkeys intervention which killed off enosis. Well I never.

It is estimated by all military experts that for any country (including even the US) to perform a military operation of the type Turkey attempted in Cyprus in 1974, it takes at least two weeks of advanced preparation, before attempting it! So much was Turkey’s rush and eagerness to step foot in Cyprus, that it nearly beat Makario's flying journey to the UN, in transferring 40,000 troops and 500 tanks (accross the sea by boats) and landing them in Cyprus! Of course, we all know that Turkey was already prepared (its invading troops were almost sleeping in the transport ships themselves, and with their boots on) waiting impatiently not to lose the chance of (any, no matter how loose) “pre-text” would appear!
