What can Turkish Cypriots do for Cyprus?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

What they can do for Cyprus now? Too late for such thoughts. Enosis of the north is not easy to undo.

I agree, its a funny world. Somehow I dont believe all TCs want partition. Not so sure of the settlers though. They - the Settlers, have changed the minds of some TCs I think. There are some who are aware that the North may one day be a 'vilayet' of Turkey.

And therein dear Deniz lies the problem for the south- the north will be a vilayet for Turkey, and the south will cling on to the 1960 constitution and the title RoC, which obliges it to open its doors to all its citizens. Result will be a replay of the Turkish minority in the south which has its rights allegeldly trampled and then what? We are already seeing such accusations in this forum. Notice that Turkey has never said it has no claims in the south, the contrary is true as we saw with the oil question. So despite Mr Gul saying there are two nations etc, when it comes to the money then Cyprus is unified and indivisible. Heads I win tails you lose they call the game.

If any of that were true then yes it would be funny.......I still haven't worked you out mate...I can't see whether you really believe that shit or are just spreading the lies of years of Greek oppression of the TCs....... :?

Nikita, these are rhetoric. Nothing more than words. All battling for the high ground. Dont let paranoia get the better of you. I dont think that many TCs will accept to become a Vilayet. Sooner rather than later they will decide against it.

Deniz,

I wonder if there are enough Turkish Cypriots now in the north to influence things to their wishes. THere is a vast difference between Turkish Cypriots wanting partition, or any other outcome, and partition or other solution being imposed from the outside. That might sound a little strange, but I think most Greek Cypriots would look with genuine interest at anything that is proposed by Cypriots but not by outsiders. A state in the north controlled by Cypriots is seen as a compromise, a state controlled by settlers is seen as a defeat. It is a an emotional state which bears in a very real manner on the situation.

So cleaning up their own house would be a good move by Turkish Cypriots.

You see if you keep refusing to listen to what we are telling you then those questions will come back over and over again.....40 fucking years for Christ sake....You used the word resilient yesterday but that was just a euphemism for stubborn.....

We are not part of the "RoC" Nikitas and it was never designed for us. You have relied on the siege of embargoes and threats to get what you want but Turkey...God bless her has helped us to prevent that surrender. It will not work so give it up and get back to the talks with love in your hearts and not the hate and destruction that we see. Cyprus is not Greek and never will be. That being said...There must be provisions made for the rest of the Cypriots that are there ands are buying or building more and more houses and returning to Cyprus still as Turkish Cypriots. Stop turning away from the realities of every day life...You have a new and wizened people with memories of what happened and not just readers of history.
