How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

"today we still have justifying reasons to stay there..

At the time, we had justifying reasons to intervene, and today we still have justifying reasons to stay there...Ali Babacan, Turkish Foreign Minister

What reasons have GCs given TCs to persuade them to tell the Turkish Army to go home?? or will the departure mean mayhem and an end to a peaceful exsistence experience by not only TCs and but although they hate to admit it GCs for the last 33 years.

Boy, you sure are so gullible. Ali Baba makes some remarks to justify their presence in Cyprus, and you eat it up as if he is doing you a favour to save your butt..

If you believe what he says, then you must also believe in the " Ali Baba and the 40 thieves" story.

Pretty soon, the "TRNC" will be turned into a "EU Token" to be used to open the "EU Gate" for Turkey to walk through.

I'm sure Turkey will appreciate if you wave those Turkish Flags as they walk into prosperity, and the "TRNC" into oblivion.

So much for your "learned from the past" slogan.

VP I am finding some of the debates here a little problematic, firstly why is up the the Cypriots in the free area to persuade Cypriots in the occupied areas that Turkish army ought to leave? Secondly Talat needs to decide as to whether he wants to take leadership in this matter and be recognised as the person to communicate on this issue or whether he wants Turkey to act as the negotiator in this matter, in which case he needs to ask the perceived occupier and invador of Cyprus to leave as Turkey will not listen to the RoC government.

How about Talat negotiates that Turkey withdraws troops over 5 years, UN steps up the protection role and within 21 days of the last remaining Turkish troop leave Cyprus soil the national guard is dismantled?

Kardesim T_C, is it too much to ask for a straight answer from Kikapudluos? He thinks sarcasm is a virtue.

The main reason the TCs should tell the Turkish Army to leave is that the TCs will be recognised as having come into the 21st Century as willing participants in a modern Democratic Republic rather than being partners with a hated tyrannical Nation like Turkey.

What price are you paying for this perceived Peace that you keep harping back to?
Are there any wars in the rest of the EU that you think will influence Cyprus into suddenly starting a war just because Turkey leaves its shores?

I give it exactly a week for the violence to begin. There will be bloodshed (TC blood) at a scale never seen before, and there will be no one to lift a finger to stop it.

Phoenix, are you having a laugh? Who is going to stop Nicoli from going to Hasans house and kicking Hasan out claiming that it was built on his land. Multiply this by tens of thousands. Get the picture?

Babacan express a view that they had reason to interevence and even today they have reason to stay has nothing has been resolved. What explanation can you give to persuade TCs that the army shouls leave.

Why should he? why dont Papadop take the lead?

How about Talat negotiates that Turkey withdraws troops over 5 years,

Why? we dont want that until we gwt a comprehesive solution as you people can try to take the wholei island by force without Turkey around to stop you.

UN steps up the protection role and within 21 days of the last remaining Turkish troop leave Cyprus soil the national guard is dismantled?

UN cant protect jack shit, no TC trust them to take action in time of crisis.

So the Turkey Army goes and the UN protect us against a GC national Guard who promises to dismantle..hardly feasable dotn you thin we woudl have to trust GCs and thats out of the question in 2007.

There is no reason why land disputes should occur once the Turkish Army leaves. Land will revert back to the rightful owners.
You are of course implying with this scaremongering absurd scenario, that the TCs will not uphold the rightful distribution of land.
The violence will only begin if YOU go and start it.
