How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

I lived the events of 1958 in Nicosia, so I know, by direct knowledge, who started what and when. I empathize with those that suffered the same fate in 1963, but to pile on the misery of murder and mayhem while disregarding the events of 1974, then you are obviously more than a little lob sided in your views.

The RoC gives what it does because it has to. What is the Turkish side giving? Instituionalised expropriation. Is the Turkish side exempt from having to treat people like people? This is the inference from what I read above. It is fine to be treated fairly in the south because that is an obligation, whereas the north has no such obligation. What a load of poppyock!

What is the result of the world listening to you? That the practical loss of my hometown will be made official? Is that better or worse for me? How will it change anything? It will not so there is no incentive for the average man on the street in the south to do anything.

I have no hesitation in offering you my sincerest regrets on what happened to make you lose your home.....You on the other hand dismiss my troubles due to the Akritas PLan, which you also dismiss, to put the blame on me. The Zurich agreement was meant to put that right and it was sabotaged by the Greek/Greek Cypriot regime...That is what the world knows and thinks Nikitas...We just have not done a good job of showing this...That has all changed......You want to forget about the past as you keep telling me to.....THE...Isn't 1974 in the past...Forget it.....

Zan, all your arguements revolve around hanging onto the past sins of some GCs, you ignore the wrongdoings of your side that go back even further that some would say triggered the events of the 50s and 60s. It's time to move on, you want to join a modern European society and yet you still believe in "might is right" and refuse to adhere to civilised standards of behavior. International law has been completely ignored in the "TRNC" for 33 years, you don't honestly expect symathy from the rest of the world do you.

The reasons for ow and why the situation is in that the "RoC" has tricked its way into the position it is in is why I am still harping on about the 60's mate..You know...The same way that the "RoC" is harping on about 1974...As I have said before...Isn't that in the past also....So if that is the way it is then lets forget the past and then we can live in two separate states and get on with our lives..That is the realities of today...Don't like it???? I didn't think so......A solution demands that all factors be taken into the equation and not the one sided views of the GC's and of course the one sided history of 1974 ADG

As for the world...Don't worry about that.....You can fool some of the people some of the time.....etc etc etc!!!!!

The events of 1974 "remedied" your problems and caused ours. We don't "harp on" about 1974 but its consequences for us today and even you know what they are. "The realities of today" you mean what we have taken and will keep by force that's not the way an EU applicant should behave. You are right, in 33 years no recognition for "TRNC", the world has not been fooled.

Turkey had a unique opportunity in 1974 to reinstate the 1960s agreements, arrest and try all the people who had persecuted Turkish Cypriots.Instead it did what was anathema to the other side- it partitioned the island. What the Greeks failed to do, to unite the island with Greece, which is the equivalent of partition for the Turkish Cypriots, Turkey did to the Greek Cypriots.

In the ensuing years this partition has been blended with a big dose of Enosis of the occupied part with Turkey. In view of this situation any invocation of the 1960 constitution must be suspect, as it has proved in the case of the supposed oil deposits. THen we found that partition is not enough, there are claims to all parts and resources of Cyprus. Maybe we should start paying rent too?

That's what I call a "kids in the playground" response Zan or the splutterings of a drowning man. If you are referring to recognition... well you know what I will say.
