Turkish side for comminment for solution

Postby halil » Tue Oct 02, 2007 7:29 pm

The Turkish Foreign Minister - Chief EU Negotiator Ali Babacan has reaffirmed the Turkish side’s willingness towards restarting the negotiations process aimed at providing a solution to the Cyprus problem under the auspices of the United Nations.Touching upon the Cyprus issue during a press conference at the Turkish House in New York, Mr Babacan said the Turkish side will continue doing its best for a solution to the Cyprus problem.Meanwhile, Mr. Babacan arrives in the TRNC on Thursday for a one day visit.

Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan called his contacts at the UN Headquarters in New York as very useful and said that the Cyprus issue and Turkey’s EU membership process were on top of the agenda.
Mr Babacan had informed his counterparts on the latest developments on the Cyprus issue, including last month’s Talat-Papadopoulos meeting.

Reminding of the Turkish Cypriot People’s approval of the Annan Plan in 2004, the Turkish Foreign Minister expressed disappointment over the fact that the Turkish Cypriot People is still suffering under international isolation while the Greek Cypriot Side which rejected the Plan, enjoys the EU membership.

Mr Babacan also pointed out that the Cyprus problem started during 1960s and that after tragedies lived during these years had forced Turkey to intervene the situation on the basis of her rights stemming from international agreements as a guarantor power in Cyprus.

`At the time, we had justifying reasons to intervene, and today we still have justifying reasons to stay there`

It's all justified to yourselves, the Turkish way. Problem is, no one cares enough to defend the illegality that Turkey shows for human rights.

By the same token there are "justifying reasons" for a superior power to invade, occupy, and partition Turkey so that similar justice may be served for the Kurdish people.

Would you have any objections to such an event?

The main reason for this isolation and the lack of EU membership are directly related to the following:

At the time, we had justifying reasons to intervene, and today we still have justifying reasons to stay there

Halil, if you Turks have had "justified reasons" to invade, and today you have justified reasons to occupy part of Cyprus; then you would have accepted to proceed to the International Court of the Hague (ICJ) for a trial on the legality of the Invasion and occupation, upon the numerous calls that the ROC has forwarded to you during the last 33 years. You refuse to do so because you know well that your actions in Cyprus were and continue to be illegal in the face of International law! Therefore, tell your master in Turkey to stop the rubbish talk! The court is there and waiting for you to accept a trial and a judgment, to see how "legal" and "justified" your actions were!

You know full well Turkey is neither a member nor do they recognize such a body...so stop pluging this futile arguement.

At the time, we had justifying reasons to intervene, and today we still have justifying reasons to stay there

Dont give them any reasons to stay and we will help you get rid of them, how does that sound?

VP, VP, VP

Your newly elected President clearly stated that there are two state two religions in Cyprus. Has he taken the Cypro back to the dark ages? YES. That was a wrong coment my friend for someone who wants to move towards a solution on the Cypro.

Firtstly ..... his coments indicate Turkish agenda
Secondly ... goes against the agreed BBF solution
Thirdly ...... contradicts to some extend the BBF plan proposed within the AP
Fourthly..... TC community is no better off today than they were back in the days nearing 74
Lastly ....... @ the time they had right to intervene NOW they don't
