How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Need info!!

Postby turkcyp » Thu Mar 03, 2005 10:26 pm

Guys do any of you know where can I get the list of villages with the population numbers that became refugee in 1974. I have found couple of maps that are showing the Greek villages before 1974 and Turkish villages, but there are no population figures attached to these maps.

I am developing a detailed plan myself. So far I have not shared with anybody. The plan will be a hybrid plan between Annan, Swiss, USA, Belgium models. I am trying to take into account Alex’s research on both communities and trying to modify the Annan Plan.

One of the tenets of the plan is to give more land under GC administration and substantially reducing TC state from 29%. And in order to do that I need the above information so I can redraw the maps in Annan Plan more effectively and efficiently.

If any of you already interested in this project please write down your e-mails so that when I am ready to share it I’ll e-mail it to you and get your feedback. This project started as a self interest hobby but if it finds some support in this forum when it is finished I am planning to show it to outside parties in north like lawyers and politicians and then made it public as well.

Other than that I think discussing in this forum over and over the same things makes us turn in cycles only without actually achieving anything. You may say that we are learning each other and expressing our own beliefs in the sense of freedom of speech. That is very nice and honorable ideal but it will not get us anywhere because we keep on repeating the same things over and over without agreeing on something and keep on making very general statements like “self-determination rights” or “basic human rights” etc. etc.

That is why I have started limiting the time I put in this forum so I can be more productive in other areas. I believe we need to get in to more details to be more productive and I think this forum is not a very good way of getting into details. As I have said when I have decent of substantial developed plan I will e-mail it to the ones who are interested so that you can tear into pieces in detail.

Take care everybody and please let me know if you are aware of a place where I can get the above info,

Take care again,

p.s. [email protected] is an e-mail address I have opened just for this forum, so you can e-mail me from that whenever you want.

Why don't you make this process public on the forum instead of trying to come up with a solution on your own? I don't think that any one person can come up with a magic solution to the Cyprus problem but I believe that if everyone stays focused, members of this forum can produce an agreeable solution.

I agree that we keep talking about the same things over and over, maybe it's time to stop repeating ourselves and get to work.

Good work, Turkcyp.

You already have my e-mail address, so I will not send it again. I look forward to hear what you have.

Also let me know if there are particular points you would like to check with Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot public opinion, and perhaps I can include them in my next round of surveys.

I would advise you, however, to not disregard this forum altogether. Instead, use it to check the acceptability of your ideas before you put them in your plan.

I do not want this to be a project of my own only; I guess everybody is getting me wrong.

I just think that this forum is not very suitable in discussing things in detail, because we always get sidetracked and start talking about other things like who started it first, or start making very general statements, instead of focusing point by point on a solution plan. You have tried that Alex and failed.

I think it is just the nature of the forum environment rather than peoples ideas. I think forum environment just becomes too confrontational and people gets sidetracked. I think if everybody uses e-mail and comment on specific points of any plan it would be much more effective. This is why I have chosen this method. Not that I discard the opinions in this forum, or I will not seek them.

So I will e-mail the interested parties so they can participate on the e-mail so that it will not be that confrontational so that people can focus on the issue at hand rather than getting sidetracked, blaming each other, etc. etc.

So far I have been reading the old topics and try to analyze ideas. Soon I will write writing. And I will e-mail the interested parties as I go along.

Take care everybody

turkcyp

when we go around certain issues in circles it means that two parties have do not agree on this issue. however, the more it is discussed the more each party starts understanding the other side.

although i am looking forward to your proprosal take im hoping you take alexandros advice and take into account everyones considerations.

if you are done, you should post it on the forum or on a website. if you do not wish to do so id be happy to receive your proposal at [email protected]

Not directly realted to this topic but if anyone feels they want to contact me directly and do not want to use the boards PM system then my mail address is

[email protected].

I have been on the same address for so long and already have so much spam that posting it in a public forum is of no concern to me. If however spam remains a concern I would advise against posting your email in a site like this. It will get 'harvested' and you will recieve spam as a result.
