Now that you mention it, yes, I am sure some donkeys are linovamvakoi. In fact my grandfather had a donkey who must have been one. Hebought her from a Turkish Cypriot from Peristerona and she kicked all strangers except the priest. Sure sign that!

Also she understoon only Cypriot dialect, not high Greek, as one teacher found out very painfully one day. So we must take that into account too.

This reminds me of a short report on the BBC world service, could have been last year, of English dogs that bark with local accents. And they had a dog trainer who could identify dogs by their barking, ie if they were from Yorkshire, the West Country etc. Maybe an ass expert would be able to tell by the braying if a donkey was from Paphos, or Karpasia?

Yes , I read about the barking dogs too. My first reaction was to ascertain that it wasnt April the first.
Its funny that I'never been kicked by a donkey but only by Cemaliye, my grandfathers cow.

Deniz,

Haven't you heard, that the Partitionist want a Partition and not a Unification, therefore it's going to be Euro V's Lira for a while longer I'm afraid, until Turkey comes and asks RoC as to what will it cost to get a YES vote on her EU accession, and the RoC will say, "I really do not know and I don't think we really need anything that we don't already have, but just to get the "TRNC" off your hands, we'll give the TC's a minority status and you take your own people back to Turkey" and Turkey will say "DEAL" before the RoC can also ask for a box of "Turkish Delights" also.

Copperline, they already have a 'wailing wall' in Jerusalem. I will accept the 'Braying Wall'.
