Re the electricty supply to a security system, have you thought of a battery powered setup under constant charge from a photovoltaic array on the roof? That would bypass the mains and ensure that the security system is always on regardless of power cuts or fluctuations.

Except in winter when the sun doesn't shine for 5 days on the trot!

Hello

We have just purchased property in Paphos and are concerned about crime in the area. I know several people who have been burgaled and I even know someone who has had his property burnt out.

Is security a big issue over in Cyprus now?

We will only be popping over for the odd week here and there and don't intend on renting it out. I have also heard some nightmate stories about property maitenance companies and alarm systems are a complete waste of time.

Does anyone know any good security companies? I would love to be able to view my property over the internet and have seen a company that looks very interesting. But does anybody know anyone before I sign up with these guys? The company I have spotted allow me to view our home over the internet and they offer to send SMS text alerts and speech alerts should anything happen over there.
