Saint Jimmy, I don't think that's true ...
TCs want more than just direct trade, they want to be full members of the EU, with all the benefits implied in such membership (social, political, economic, educational etc.)
So even if we agree on Famagusta Port, so that TCs have some direct trade, we will still have more to "offer in return" ...
As to Mikkie's concern that autonomus control of the port will not lead to co-operation - let's just think about this: Does it really matter who is behind the desk stamping the documents, and if there are only TCs behind the desk or GCs as well? The fact is, that port will be heavily used by GCs who will be bringing in materials for the reconstruction of Famagusta, and the reconstruction itself will inevitably be a huge bicommunal project, with thousands of TC workers, TC engineers, and TC town planners participating.
