Cyprus Eurovision final 2008

Postby originalsmiler » Fri Sep 28, 2007 11:00 pm

Want to pen a winner for Cyprus?

Cyprus have confirmed they will hold a national heat to select their next representative into the Eurovision.

Entries can be submitted for the national heat until November 15.

The only restriction is applicants have to be Cypriot and those who reside in Britain or elsewhere are permitted to enter.

Can we anticipate a flurry of British-based Cypriots artists?

Songwriters have until November 15 to submit entries and the final mastered versions of the songs must reach RIK by 1 January 2008.

The national heat will use a combination of voting to select the next Cypriot Eurovision Song Contest entry. The vote will comprise a jury which will provide 40% of the votes, and a national televote will make up 60% of the total votes.

On November 15 a strong 7 member-jury will choose the best 10 finalists to perform in the Cypriot live heat.

Want to pen a winner for Cyprus?

Check out the rules and regulations.

Shouldnt that application be in Turkish as well???? Halil take note and have this broadcast on BRT, lets enter a TC song and see how many GCs actually vote for it.

Turkish Cypriots have entered

Postby originalsmiler » Fri Sep 28, 2007 11:53 pm

Some years ago a boy-band with Cypriots both Turkish and Greek had finished... Fourth... in the Cypriot heat.

So YES Cypriot Greeks have VOTED for their compatriots in such Eurovision finals.

I know a Cypriot Turkish musician who lives in London who just missed out on the final... if the song was stronger... who knows...

The rules albeit in Greek the translation does read:

"Cypriots either in Cyprus or overseas" are allowed to enter!

That’s a HUGE risk! Think of the disappointment you’d have if it were to win... you'll probably get a heart attack.

No VP, it shouldn't be in Turkish at all, it's in the language of South Greek Cyprus and has nothing to do with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus where Turkish is spoken as the main language.

Entering a Turkish song under the "RoC" name would be agreeing to the GCs
osmosis demands and falling into their trap.

Let them get on with it mate, if we can't enter as the TRNC then we can enter our songs through Turkey until we get our recognition.

Hate ,Hate , Hate :!: :!: :!:

Hey guys/guls

take it easy ,

music does not have nationality .

Eurovision organisation should get in touch with both side .Both side people should do voting as well.

VP,
do your complain to minister of tourism or primer minister office.

halil, I would support any TC singer from applying. I find the Turkish language very ensual and romantic to my auditory reeption. The word gusel as far as am concerned says it all.
